Are Traditional Christmas Trees a Thing of the Past?

Are traditional Christmas Trees a thing of the past? We see tons of color schemes for Christmas trees around the US and around the world. Years ago Christmas trees we’re mostly handmade ornaments from the kids at school. Now they are all color coordinated, with matching colors. Every ornament must match and be in the perfect spot. Years ago barely anyone had a “fake,” Christmas tree. The entire family would go out and pick out a real tree together. Now, Are real trees becoming a thing of the past?

Which is better in your eyes? The perfect fashionable tree or the tree with memories and meaning? Believe me, I love my perfect trees! I put up a gold and red one in the living room and I put up a silver and green one in the family room. If it’s not gold or red, it does not go on the gold/red Christmas tree. But I have a little 3″ tree in my family room as well. It holds all the personalized ornaments made by the little ones and the ones of meaning. I think it’s important to keep those out and the memories alive, even if you want the perfect “Hallmark,” tree.

Whether you are decorating your tree with a particular theme or with ornaments from the past, I think it’s always important to keep something with meaning in the holiday. Even if you want the perfect “Hallmark,” tree maybe fill your fridge with Christmas drawings from the kids when they we’re 3 or even your hubby’s Christmas list when he was 5. I love looking back at the memories each season and keeping them a part of the holiday each year.
