As I Walked Down the Street
As I walked down the street
I said, “Where is the Lord
How can it be
That I don’t see Him?”
I said, “Where is the Lord
How can it be
That I don’t see Him?”
As I cried at the sad scene
On the street before me
I asked, “Where is the Lord
That He didn’t stop this?”
As I smiled at the children
Playing hopscotch on the street
The street where I walked
As I cried, and where I smiled.
All these things were the Lord
And the Lord had given me
All these things
The feet that I walked past the sad scene
The eyes with which I saw
And the children
So I could smile again
And be renewed
As I looked for the Lord.
