Away from Solitude…Into The Unknown
Looking down on the valley below
Hearing the howls of his former pack
Lone Wolf’s tears fall silently against the frosty air
Alone, ever and terminally alone
He trots along the path of the ridge
Headed for fields and forests unknown
Most likely never to see his pack-mates again
Their howls and cries haunt his very steps
Carrying him with each forward step
Away from his mountain-top solitude
Onwards into forests and valleys unknown
Lone Wolf has left the solitude of his mountain
Drifting onwards, slowly, quietly into the unknown
Nature’s twin solitary eyes of the day and night
Ever watchful of the direction he takes
Disappearing over the last known ridge of his realm
Lone Wolf’s quiet steps move him further along
Further away from the cries and howls of the familiar
Further on towards the unknown…
…..a trail of tears and set of footsteps
The only marks of his having passed through
