Bathroom Update Ideas for Under $100
The first step in any bathroom update is an intense cleaning! Scrub the grout, clean the deep recesses on the toilet and meticulously clean the faucets on the tub and sink. Over time, the accumulation of over spray and dirt can dull the finish on cabinets. Cleaning the wood, then polishing will give them a bright new look as well.
Clear off the counter tops and clear the room of all the clutter that accumulates over time. If you haven’t used it in 6 months, throw it out! Nothing takes away from the style of a bathroom more than counter tops and shelves cluttered with dozens of everyday toiletries. Install a rotating tray under the counter so that you can easily get to what you need without having it lay out on the counter all the time.
You’ll be amazed at how much nicer your bathroom looks after a detailed cleaning and that’s a bathroom update that is virtually free.
After scrubbing and polishing here are some ideas for inexpensive bathroom updates:
1)Rather than replacing existing cabinets which can be very expensive, consider replacing the hardware on your cabinets.
2)The most dramatic change you can make to update your bathroom is to paint! Since bathrooms are generally small compared to other rooms, it’s a quick inexpensive way to make a dramatic change in the room. If you already have the basic equipment (brushes, rollers, etc) painting can easily be done for under $15.
3)Replace your old shower curtain or simply add new shower curtain rings to your existing curtain.
4)Purchase matching accessories such as wastebasket, toothbrush holder and soap dish. You don’t need to purchase expensive accessories. Plastic works fine! Just being new and shiny is enough to add to the bathroom update.
5) Add bathroom throw rugs for an inexpensive alternative to replacing the flooring. Replacing a tired, worn out bath mat can do wonders for a low cost bathroom update. For less expensive rugs, look at alternatives to the rugs and mats in the bed and bath department. Try the less expensive woven mats rather than the looped or shag bathroom rugs.
6)Small touches make a big difference! Baskets or metal ware trays are a great way to display new hand towels, decorative soaps and other bath accessories such as bubble bath or bath salts. Decorative bottles are also an inexpensive way to update your bathroom and give it a elegant look. Fill them with inexpensive lotions and bath oils.
8) Get rid of that ugly, plastic bottle of hand soap. Replace it was a pretty glass or ceramic bottle with a metal pouring spout.
7) Candles, candles and more candles! Inexpensive, yet they can add a dramatic and romantic atmosphere to your bathroom update. Try floating candles or some of the delicious new scents available. Arrange them on a tray or small table next to the bathtub.
8) Add a pretty vase filled with fresh flowers or quality silk/ satin flowers.
Try a few of these simple ideas for a beautiful bathroom update that costs well under $100!
