Behind Closed Doors

For many people, the image conjured up by the word “escort” is likely one that involves exceptionally beautiful women who are paid to accompany wealthy men to lavish social events and expensive dinners – women whose charm and splendor are worth several hundred dollars an hour to particularly affluent clients.

Look in the yellow pages or online and escort companies are easy to find. But the reality is, the Pretty Woman fantasy simply does not exist. The escort business is about money, and it is driven by the same economic force that motivates the entire exotic industry – sex. But those ads are the biggest misrepresentation in America. I know because I was one of them, and I was the biggest deceiver ever. I never enjoyed the sex. In fact, all of my clients were considered unattractive and old to me. And to be perfectly honest about the rest; I would have much rather preferred having sex with a guy from my high school soccer team rather than faking it with a stranger.

I never thought I would end up working for an escort service. I had dreams of becoming a cosmetologist. But I was lied to by my step-father. I was only sixteen. He told me it was a modeling job, that it was a legitimate way of making money. But by the time I found out the truth, I was given an ultimatum. For most of us, this is how our entrance into the escort service began. I continued to do it because it was an easy way of making money and I was motivated by the splendor of penthouses, lush limousines and being the center of attention.

Truth be known: High class escort services are not any safer than those who are street walkers. I saw many men in one night, and with every client I told them what they always wanted to hear. When asked if I had any diseases, the answer was always “no.” After all, I assumed I didn’t have any because I always looked healthy. I always wore the nicest clothes, and I would never leave the house unless my hair and make-up was perfectly in place. But there was one time when I did have Chlamydia when I wasn’t aware of it. To this day, I don’t know how many men I infected before it was caught by my doctor. There was also a time when I contracted crabs. There is a harsh truth about condoms as well. It’s not a surefire – they slip.

On occasion there would be a call when my friends and I would have to perform sexual acts together. When our night was over, we would all go out to meet at a restaurant and joke about who got the dude with the oldest body all the way to who had the smallest module. Females do really gossip in every workplace.
Women in the escort service are generally not well-adjusted, happy individuals, although they do a pretty good job of hiding it well with drugs and alcohol. Many admit they came from abusive homes, compiled with rape, molestation and verbal abuse. Due to this trauma, many of us suffer from depression as well as bipolar disorder. I am a survivor of these symptoms myself. But we still had to move forward and survive. In the end, all of us believed that working in the escort service would fulfill those needs. We believed the lie that we could receive that attention, and you believed the lie that we could give you it.

I’m not completely heartless. I did actually care for men before my father abandoned me at the age of five and before my step-father raped me at the age of sixteen. And I actually do have compassion for your story behind why you ended up calling me in the first place, but I didn’t learn this until I had gotten completely out of the escort business and cried on my therapists chair many years later.

So save your money for better things and don’t believe the advertisements. The escort agencies who consider them high class and safe is nothing but a fairy tale. Yes, we make the choice to take your money rather than walk away to find a better way of life, but you the client, continue to keep the escort services in business by placing the call.

Behind the doors of the escort business, exists a world of temptation that can potentially jeopardize the future of each and every one of us today. More then ever before, sexually transmitted diseases among escort workers include gonorrhea, syphilis, chancroid, chlamydia, genital herpes, genital warts, Hepatitis B, vaginitis and HIV/AIDS and a host of other diseases and disasters that are becoming more and more present. I’ve seen what these diseases have done in other’s lives when there is no turning back. It’s nothing to joke about. The truth is; the best companion you could ever have is not found behind closed doors. Before you flip open that cell phone, think before you dial and seek help instead. Escorts are only going to tell you what they are paid for. Ask yourself, “does the risk outweigh the benefit?” I am here to tell you that the answer is definitely NOT.
