Best Burgers in West Maui
The best cheeseburger you will find in paradise is at a place appropriately named Cheeseburger in Paradise. If you read my article on West Maui nightlife, you may be familiar with this fun, quirky eatery located right on the water at 811 Front Street in Lahaina. Cheeseburger in Paradise is often packed, and I don’t recommend waiting on an hour-long line to grab a quick cheeseburger. I do, however, suggest you check back regularly during your stay in Maui to find a time when Cheeseburger is less crowded. They have some very tasty tropical drinks to ease your wait. And the seasoned fries are some of the best I have ever tried. Cheeseburger in Paradise is as legendary in West Maui as the song by the same name, and after the first few bites of your burger, you’ll know why.
If Cheeseburger in Paradise is too crowded, you can’t go wrong at the nearby Hard Rock CafÃ?©. You may have been to a bunch of Hard Rock CafÃ?©s on the mainland, but never one with such a view. Located at 900 Front Street, Hard Rock looks out over the Pacific Ocean and the island of Lana’i. Of course, you will also find the same fun atmosphere, rock n’ roll memorabilia lining the walls, and upbeat music blasting from the speakers. You will also find a surprisingly damn good burger.
Hecock’s on the Ocean offers another great burger on Front Street (505 Front Street to be exact). Hecock’s offers a magnificent view you won’t soon forget and some really good food. Dinners are a bit expensive, so I recommend grabbing a reasonably priced burger at lunchtime.
Johnny’s Burger Joint, located at 2395 Honoapiilani Highway, gives you the choice of a single or a double 6 or 9 ounce burger. If you do order the 18 ounce burger, be sure to order enough beer or Mai Tai to wash it down. The burgers at Johnny’s Burger Joint are good, really good, and very reasonably priced.
The Hula Grill offers a great burger for lunch, along with a knockout view of the ocean off of Ka’anapali Beach. Located in Whalers Village at 2435 Ka’anapali Parkway, you can enjoy an outstanding burger and an unbelievable Maui sunset. They also offer steak, seafood and pasta dinners. The lobster is terrific, but skip the steak and enjoy a burger if you’re in the mood for red meat.
Lahaina Coolers, while not as enticing as some of the above, offers a really good burger, too. Located at 180 Dickenson Street, you can grab a delicious burger and some really worthwhile tropical drinks. Lahaina Coolers is also reasonably priced. They are currently remodeling their website. By the time this article goes live, it should be up at http://www.lahainacoolers.com/
