Best Buy and Circuit City Face Off

In today’s global market, electronic equipment is more enhanced than it was ten years ago.

Therefore, two superstores that will help us purchase electronics easier, are Best Buy and Circuit City. Both stores provide on-line shopping , and have a balanced selection. For example, Televisions, DVD players, stereo’s, computers, and compact disks. Furthermore, Circuit City and Best Buy offer free shipment with all on-line purchases. This is a convenient way to shop; however, it could be a disadvantage without physically touching an electronic product. Although Best Buy and Circuit City are alike, Best Buy does provide more options for their customers. First, Best Buy supplies washers, dryers, refrigerators, microwaves, and dishwashers in addition to their electronic equipment, making it a one stop shopping warehouse for its patrons. More importantly, Best Buy is also located in Canada and Puerto Rico, thus making it convenient for the international shopper. However, Circuit City does provide a better selection on home theaters than Best Buy. For example, a living room is set up with couches and chairs customers can sit in, to give the consumer a better experience of Sony Trinitron TVs, and Harmon Kardon home theater systems with surround sound. Circuit City, by contrast, furnishes the consumer with a hands-on experience.

Best Buy and Circuit City have a hassle free return policy on their products. This makes a consumer feel at ease if they need to return an impulse purchase on a RCA television. Both stores also provide a commercial sales division, making it simple for business owners to shop. Furthermore, Best Buy and Circuit City are both on the NYSE, making investments in the companies easy to obtain. In addition, Best Buy is rated the number one largest volume retailer, according to Consumer Reports.

Circuit City and Best Buy are both economically stable electronic superstores; moreover, these two corporations sponsor and donate monies. For example, Circuit City sponsors Boys and Girls Clubs nationwide, whereas Best Buy donates a percentage of profit to the Dept. of Children and Families where their presence are. This demonstrates proper corporate responsibility in today’s demanding economy. Making a buying decision can be a difficult choice. Circuit City does make a consumer feel more knowledgeable on a product they want to buy because of experience the salespeople deliver; however, when a consumer is in the market for, not only a Sony Trinitron TV, and a Cannon digital camera, but a Kenmore washer and dryer, or a GE dishwasher and refrigerator, Best Buy is the one stop superstore one should shop at. Depending on where you are, on-line on your Gateway computer or in your four door Toyota sedan, Best Buy and Circuit City are within a consumers reach.
