Best Nightlife in Maui
The hub of West Maui nightlife is a town called Lahaina. Front Street is the main drag and you’ll find most of West Maui’s nightlife right here. I recommend kicking the night off with a burger and Mai Tai at Cheeseburger in Paradise (not to be confused with the restaurants popping up all over the mainland licensed by Jimmy Buffet himself). Make sure you try an order of their deliciously seasoned fries as well.
You’ll find some popular joints on Front Street, one of which is Moose McGillycuddy’s. Most of Moose’s patrons are between the ages of 21 and 26, so if you don’t fall between those years, you might want to keep looking. Front Street is bound to have a happening place that will float your boat.
If you’re looking for nightlife in South Maui, stop at Cheeseburger’s other location, Cheeseburger, Mai Tais & Rick n’ Roll. South Maui is somewhat quieter than West Maui, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find yourself a good time. There is a fine nightclub at the Grand Wailea called Tsunami that is usually jumping on the weekends. Across from Kalama Park you’ll find a bar called Kahale, which features live music. And South Maui’s most popular nightclub is Hapa’s in the Lipoa Center.
If you are interested in dinner shows, there are three in Maui that won’t disappoint. Kupanaha at the Ka’anapali Beach Hotel boasts delicious food and decent entertainment, and best of all, Mai Tais and beers are included with the admission price. Children are also welcome at the Kupanaha show.
In Old Lahaina Center, you’ll find ‘Ulalena, an elaborate musical show sung entirely in Hawaiian. No dinner is actually served at the event, but you can purchase packages that include dinner at nearby restaurants.
The most spectacular show in Maui may be Warren & Annabelle’s. This magical show is sure to thrill, but it’s limited to audiences 21 and over. Due to its widespread popularity, I highly recommend you book the show well in advance.
In the mood for an authentic Hawaiian luau? The Old Lahaina Luau in West Maui is a sure thing. You can’t go wrong with free drinks, friendly service and an excitingly authentic show. Many Maui resorts also offer Hawaiian luaus, including the Marriott, the Hyatt, and the Royal Lahaina Resort. The Wailea Marriott Luau is your best bet in South Maui.
Maui offers a wide variety of island nightlife if you’re not too exhausted from your daily hiking or battles with the sea. In my opinion, no Hawaiian vacation is complete without experiencing at least one luau, so plan ahead and you’ll be certain not to miss out on anything and you won’t have to kick yourself in the pants on the plane ride home. Aloha and mahalo (thanks) for reading.
