Best Shopping, Dining and Entertainment in Myrtle Beach

For generations visitors have returned to Myrtle Beach to enjoy miles of beautiful beach and experience the wide variety of attractions. Days filled with shopping, dining, and live entertainment may be your dream vacation, if so, Myrtle Beach is the place for you.

Myrtle Beach is home to some of the best shopping available. The newly opened Coastal Grand Mall, located near the heart of Myrtle Beach, has nearly 130 stores along with restaurants and theaters. A few of the more popular stores include Sears, Dillards, Bed Bath and Beyond and the Gap. Some of the restaurants offered are Red Lobster for seafood, Sticky Fingers for ribs, and Cracker Barrel for down home cooking. The theater offers fourteen screens for a wide selection of movies.

Colonial Mall, located to the north of Myrtle Beach, has undergone major renovations in the past few years, with the newest addition being the only Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in South Carolina. Also located in the Colonial Mall are JCPenney, Belk, and Books-A-Million. Restaurants include Ruby Tuesday, as well as Frank & Stein and Chic-fil-A. The theater has ten screens. The Mall also has a soft-play area for children to use up some of the extra energy they seem to accumulate during shopping.

For the bargain hunters, a vacation to Myrtle Beach could be a dream come true, as there are two Tanger Outlet Centers in Myrtle Beach. The Center located on Highway 17 has over seventy-five brand name stores to choose from, while the Center on Highway 501 has over one hundred stores. Sales and bargains abound at each of Centers with name brands from Aeropostale to Harley-Davidson to Wilson’s Leather Outlet.

Broadway at the Beach is an experience like no other in Myrtle Beach and could well be the center of a vacation. Located in the very heart of Myrtle Beach, Broadway at the Beach offers over one hundred specialty shops, twenty restaurants, ten nightclubs and three on-site hotels. The shops include such favorites as The Gap, California Leather, Build-A-Bear, The Bath Boutique, and Planet Hollywood Superstore. Among the many restaurants are NASCAR Cafe’, Planet Hollywood and Hard Rock Cafe’. Entertainment offered at Broadway includes Ripley’s Aquarium, IMAX Discovery Theater and NASCAR Speed Park. Accommodations for Broadway at the Beach include Fairfield Inn, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express. In Myrtle Beach, Broadway at the Beach has it all.

Myrtle Beach currently has no less than seven live entertainment theaters.

The Alabama Theatre seats 2,000 and is host to some of the best concerts and shows, as well as a top-notch variety show called One. Some of the entertainment legends that have performed there include George Jones, Charlie Pride, Loretta Lynn, and the auditorium’s namesake, Alabama.

The Carolina Opry, founded in 1986 by musician Calvin Gilmore, continues to delight audiences year after year. Seating 2,200, the venue offers a variety of music, including country, pop, gospel, Broadway, jazz and more, plus comedy and dance routines.

Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner and Show offers a four-course dinner and good-natured games between the North and South.

The House of Blues has been host to a wide variety of entertainers over the years, Keith Urban, Hootie and the Blowfish and Edwin McCain, to name just a few.

Tribute the Concert and Legends in Concert both offer celebrity look-alikes. These are fantastic shows with musical legends such as Aretha Franklin, Rod Stewart and Elvis Presley impersonators.

The Palace Theater has been host to such shows as Spirit of the Dance and Rat Pack-The Las Vegas Show, as well as some of Broadway’s finest; Chicago and Cats.
