Beyonce’s Latest B’Day: Not Too Bad

Beyonce’s latest album, B’Day, will be in stores September 5th. The album is definitely aimed to get people in the clubs dancing. Its most apparent in songs such as, “Freakum Dress,” “Get Me Bodied,” and, “Upgrade You.” The Swizz Beatz’ beat on, “Get Me Bodied,” is guaranteed to get any party popping, not to mention Beyonce calling out several dance moves on the extended version. I’m sure ladies will be in the club, “patting their weaves.”

While, Freakum Dress is a filler song that I’m not feeling, I assume women will appreciate the subject of stepping out for a night in the town in a sexy dress. Of course we have all already heard, “Ring the Alarm,” which shows the angry side of Beyonce, “Check Up On It,” which was a successful single and “Deja Vu,” which is getting a lot of play.

B’Day is not a one dimensional album, she has more laid back tracks that I feel are good. Beyonce calms down the mood in a great song, “Kitty Kat,” while talking about a man that is not giving the appropriate attention. She ask the question,”what about my body body” and later says, “somewhere I’ll be naughty.” Suga Mama has old school feel to it, but feels like another filler song and isn’t very good. Green Light is a nice track with a nice beat, its good but not great in my opinionn.

Where the album shines is when Beyonce gets emotional in more meaningful songs. The songs I refer to are, “Irreplaceable,” “Resentment,” and, “Listen.” These songs are simply amazing and make the CD worth buying by themselvess.

They all happen to be about dealing with a man that is not treating his woman right. “Irreplaceable,” refers to women realizing their self worth and letting them know they can survive with out a manthat’ss does not deserve them. “Resentment,” is about the difficult processs of dealing with a man that has been unfaithful. “Listen,” is a song about a woman reaching out to a man who won’t listen to what she wants in life, it was inspired from Beyonce’s character in, “Dream Girls.”

Overall the album is good. I would of preferredd a few club songs being replaced by more laid back tracks to get a better balance. The CD only has two tracks I would skip, andthat’s just me, maybe you guys might enjoy those songs. The album does have songs I can play over and over. I would recommend buying the album and I know Beyonce fans will enjoy it.
