Bollywood: An Insider’s Guide set to provide a glimpse of the glamour behind the peacock screen

Veteran writer Fuad Omar’s debut book provides unprecedented access into the fascinating world of Indian cinema, also known as Bollywood, taking the reader behind the scenes of India’s biggest blockbuster (Sometimes Happiness Sometimes Sadness), giving a glimpse into the lives of India’s biggest stars (Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai) and heartthrobs (Hrithik Roshan, Arjun Rampal, John Abraham) alongside reviews, features and more.

This truly unique collection of interviews, behind the scenes articles and reviews is the first of its kind, capturing a slice of the big screen’s most enigmatic personalities and presenting them in a time capsule that represents Bollywood circa 1999 to 2004.

‘Bollywood: An Insider’s Guide’ takes its name from the popular ‘Insider’ column Fuad Omar had in The Asian Xpress weekly newspaper, and the title given to him when referred to in publications such as the Evening Mail, Total Film and Empire magazine. His articles found a home in not only print but also electronic media, spreading across fan-built websites like wildfire, earning him notoriety among Bollywood watchers as the missing link between the screen and those behind it.
Capturing a rare time in Bollywood when an overnight sensation was created, a superstar ventured into risky territory with production and a beauty queen broke through the barrier built by her looks, Fuad Omar presents a reflective assortment of writings that truly represent a side of Bollywood rarely seen.

Mayhem Publishing is proud to have its first film-related book as one on the world’s largest dream factory and one which is fast emerging as an eclipsing sun from the East: Bollywood.
