Book and Movie Review Site: Allreaders.com And Allwatchers.com

Allreader.com and Allwatchers.com are unique sites for people looking for suggestions for books or movies. These sites were created by Steve Gordon who also created Allexperts.com. The premise behind these review sites is, instead of merely looking for a book or movie through the authors or actors, people can look for specific plots that they’re interested in. This is similar to reading the plot summary on the back cover of a book, or finding a review that describes the plot of a movie. Allreaders.com and Allwatchers.com take the concept even further. There are the written summaries, which vary in detail, depending on the writer. Along with that, each book and movie has a breakdown of plot, characters, themes, and settings. First, you can select which category to search for, such as thriller or romance. Then, you can break things down even more. For example, if you want to find a particular plot, you select from multiple drop down menus. The first is the primary plot. Is the story mainly about war? Then, you pick that. After that are menus for the secondary as well as tertiary plots. You can pick the tone of the story, the era in which it takes place, and for books, the age group that the story is written for. The choices for characters, themes, and settings can be narrowed down with as much precision. When you look for a movie with a particular type of character, you can use the menus to request movies in which the secondary main character is a muscular, Russian man with short red hair, very tight clothes, and who appears in 60% of the movie. Each result will say if they match strongly in the categories you searched for.

These sites have an added benefit to people who can give detailed descriptions of books and movies. They pay people to write for them. So far, I’ve made roughly eighty dollars. You just need to be able to describe the plots in detail and make the selections in each option as listed above. Although they describe your writings as reviews, they’re not really interested in your opinions about the quality, they want to know what happens in the books or movies in detail. The more detail, the better. There is also a wide range of books and movies that they will pay you to write about. These include current movies, classic ones, even obscure movies. The same goes for books. In fact, since they pay more for books or movies that aren’t already in their database, chances are you can make more money with some that aren’t widely known or recent.

There are books that don’t meet the requirements. These include horror books, books under 200 words, children’s books, and books without plots. The ban on children’s books disheartened me, since most of my reading is in this category. However, I was told that if a children’s book is long enough and has a plot that is not too simplistic. However, it’s hard to know what will be considered too simple, so I recently keep my reviews to movies. Aside from plotless movies, horror, and made for tv or video, the range that they accept is wider.

To be paid, you need to reach a certain minimum. This can change at the discretion of the owner. When I started, the minimum pay out was thirty dollars. It’s been raised to fifty, but so has the amount that each review is worth. Detailed reviews of books not in the database are worth five dollars (raised from two dollars before). Books already in the database are worth five cents (dropped down from ten cents). American made films not already summarized are worth five dollars, if the review is very detailed. It is good to pay special attention to what happens in the middle of the story. I’ve had summaries rejected because my description of the middle was too vague. On the other hand, they also claim to offer lower payments of one to two dollars for summaries of that are only somewhat detailed. Movies already in the database or foreign films are worth five cents. There is also a maximum amount you can be paid. Currently, it is one thousand dollars. I have not reached it, so I don’t know if you can still review after you reach the maximum, but you won’t be paid after that. They pay by check. I’ve reached minimum pay out twice, and they were very prompt.

This website is an interesting way to look for books and movies, and also the provides possibility of extra cash for writers.
