Breyers Ice Cream Poppers: Hersheys Coating

Breyers Ice Cream Poppers, in the Hersheys Coating, are small bite sized chocolate covered bits of vanilla ice cream. I think these would be good for a dessert, a fun party treat, or as a garnish for another dessert. They are tasty and are able to be eaten with your hands without getting messy. There are 60 individual pieces to a container, and they are under $3 at my local Walmart. They have another flavor but this review is for the chocolate covered ones.

The container is 9 ounces worth of these treats and with 2.5 servings in a container (theoretically). These are great little snacks that can be passed around and shared with family or friends. I’ve also used them as a topping for cake slices. These remind me of BonBons that you could buy in a pail with different coatings and flavors. They are fun and flavorful. Last night I used four to top a slice of pound cake and some whipped topping. I think they would be fun for kids.

These ice cream bites are good to satisfy a craving if you are on a diet, as you can have just a handful and get that taste without blowing the whole diet. You could pass around the container for your whole family to have a handful of and not mess up any bowls and spoons. They are convenient to have in the freezer of an RV because you don’t need other utensils to eat and enjoy. I like having 2 or three whenever I just want a bite of something. I am hoping that they come out with caramel or butterscotch covered ones as well. The chocolate is lightly covering the ice cream, it isn’t very thick. Some of the bits are a little misshapen. But they aren’t meant to look good, just taste good. And that they do, and do it well.

Ingredients
Ice Cream: Nonfat milk, sugar, milkfat, whey, natural flavor, guar gum, locust bean gum, mono and diglycerides, cellulose gum, polysorbate 65 and 80, carrageenan.
Hersheys Chocolate Flavored Coating: Sugar, coconut oil, milk, cocoa butter, chocolate, soybean oil, soy lecithin, artificial flavoring.
