Breyers Light Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Takes the Ice Cream World by Storm
Much to my delight, Breyers Light Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream tasted just like the original. If I had one word to describe Breyers (Light and Regular) Mint Chocolate Chip it would be classy. They don’t feel the need to add green food coloring to their mint chocolate chip; I mean, what is that anyway? Do ice cream makers think we’re too stupid to eat white mint chocolate ice cream, like our minds aren’t going to recognize the taste because it’s not a minty green color? That’s stupid. Breyers doesn’t insult our intelligence, I like that.
Another great thing about Breyers (Light and Regular) Mint Chocolate Chip is the chocolate chips, they’re fantastic. They taste like little miniaturized versions of what Switzerland must smell like. I can even visualize a fat Swedish pastry chef, literally chipping tiny slates off of a gigantic block of chocolate block into a swirling vat of white cream. It probably doesn’t go down like that, but a man can dream right?
Now, let me tell you why the Light version is better than the Regular version. The Breyers Light series has 1/3 less calories than the original. If you’re counting at home, hat’s actually not all that much (ice cream has a shitload of calories). But if you’re like me and can eat a whole tub in a sitting, 33% is a big deal. As I’ve noted before, I’ve struggled with flab (I wouldn’t call myself fat although some might). I mean, I’m cool with my girth (in more ways than one, wink, wink, ladies call me); I’m 6’1″ and I weigh 210lb. and I’d like to keep it right there (or below). And now, thanks to Breyers Light Mint Chocolate, I can eat tubs of ice cream GUILT FREE! And you can too.
Don’t get me wrong, if it tasted like shit I wouldn’t eat it (also, for the purpose of this review, I’ve kind of exaggerating my need to eat ice cream in the first place). But Breyers Light Mint Chocolate Chip does taste extremely similar to the original (if you read my Diet Mountain Dew review, you know where I’m going). Anytime manufacturers can produce a diet (or light) version of their original product and it tastes just like the original, it’s going to sell (and there’s an 88% chance I’m going to eat it). This is a very simple principal; it can not and will not ever change.
In some ways (and I am reluctant to say this), Breyers Light Mint Chocolate Chip is actually better than the original. It’s not as rich or something, and it’s creamier (if that makes sense). It’s almost like they paid somebody to put it in their mouth and then spit it back into the carton and then froze it again (gross, yes, but I wouldn’t put it past the wily people of Breyer).
The only downside to Breyers Light Mint Chocolate Chip (and all Breyers flavors for that matter) is the price. Breyers is expensive. You do though, as they say, pay for what you get. Turkey Hill might be half the price, but it’s double the suckiness. Eat Breyers Light Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, but only if you want your mind blown. It’s that simple
