Brunch in Chicago Offers Up Comforting Food to Diners

Chicago is a great city to take time out for a great brunch. Brunch in Chicago is a great way to refuel for a day of shopping on the magnificent mile and along State Street. Although the city of Chicago is packed with great restaurants perfect for brunch, there are a few local spots that are sure to make you feel like you really got a taste of what Chicago is all about. Take a detour off the beaten tourist path and check out these great local brunch restaurants.

Atwood CafÃ?© serves up a great brunch in a setting that epitomizes the unique loft look found throughout the city of Chicago. Exposed brick walls accented with plush, rich, and soft velvety fabrics. Bright warm red curtains accent the eighteen-foot ceilings that would have Scarlet O’Hara envisioning beautiful gowns. The dÃ?©cor is finished off with warmly finished hardwood cherry floors and you couldn’t find a more Chicago style dÃ?©cor. I saw this specific look at many lofts while shopping in the Chicago real estate market. They even call them Chicago style lofts locally. To round out the Chicago feel Atwood serves up a killer brunch loaded with Chicago worthy foods. Dining out is an art form in Chicago and Atwood’s menu is something is no exception. I highly recommend making room for the toasted pecan waffles and a piping hot cup of strong black coffee. If you are not in the mood for breakfast food at your brunch try the grilled Ahi Tuna. It is fresh and mouth watering. Atwood CafÃ?© is located at 1 West Washington Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60602. They can be reached at (312) 368-1900.

Four Farthings Tavern and Grill is one of those great bars that is hopping with locals every Saturday night and packed for brunch the next morning. I have to say there is something delightful about dining on good food in a Chicago bar. Although most bar food gets a bad rap, breakfast is hard to mess up. The best thing about dining on brunch at Four Farthings Tavern and Grill is the outdoor dining on the sidewalk. Summer in Chicago is perfect brunch season. The restaurants in the city take full advantage of the beautiful weather and give diners every opportunity to dine outdoors. If you happen to be out for brunch on a hot or cold day in Chicago, Four Farthings Tavern and Grill does have a dining room as well as a bar area perfect for indoor dining. Four Farthings Tavern and Grill is located at 2060 North Cleveland Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60614. Although I usually dine on breakfast food at brunch, I have to recommend the saut©ed crab cakes at Four Farthings Tavern and Grill. They are served up with a mustard sauce that is a warm and pleasing accompaniment to the crab cakes. Try one of their many draft beers to wash down this top-notch bar food. Four Farthings Tavern and Grill can be reached at (773) 935-2060.

Kitsch’n River North is a sister store to their original location in Roscoe Village. I guess a demand for their great brunch demanded the appearance of a second location. If you are visiting the Downtown Chicago area you may find that River North is a lot quicker to get to than Roscoe Village. River North is less than 2 miles out of Downtown and is an inexpensive cab ride. Kitsch’n River North serves up the same great brunch fare as the original store, but in an industrial building that was formerly the Montgomery Ward building. The atmosphere is edgy and friendly at the same time. Crowds of locals and tourists of all ages line up for comforting brunch food served up amongst the vintage tchotkes and dÃ?©cor. Kitsch’n River North is located at 600 West Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60610. My favorite dish is the eggs in a basket deluxe. Fresh eggs are cooked up inside of Texas toast and are a traditional and comforting American favorite for brunch. Kitsch’n River North serves up strong cups of that Chicago favorite Intelligencia Coffee. A cup or two of this strong black concoction will have you on the go and ready to tackle a few weekend home projects! They can be reached at (312) 644-1500.
