There is something about dining out for brunch in New York City. Sunday brunch is the perfect ending to a busy New York City weekend. After a weekend of sight seeing, club hopping, and shop, shop, shopping, brunch is a great way to wind down and relax. Brunch in a New York City Restaurant is the prefect way to really feel like you are part of the city. Sometimes you just want to feel like a local when you are visiting a city. New York City is jam packed with great restaurants, so take a little advise in the brunch department and check out some of these great local eateries. Each is different in its own way, but together they represent a diverse and busy city that seems to come to a stop every Sunday morning.

71 Irving is in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of New York City and well worth the trip to check them out and eat some of their great brunch food. New York City is a large city, so getting a grasp on everything this city has to offer will definitely take some effort on your part. The hundreds of locals that crowd in 71 Irving for brunch can’t be wrong though. The atmosphere is friendly and the brunch food is great, so what is not to like? They serve up some of the best waffles I have ever had in New York City. Super crunchy on the outside, warm and soft in the middle, and portions big enough for two people. Brunch in New York City wouldn’t be the same without a piping hot of fresh coffee. 71 Irving takes the matter of coffee seriously. They roast their own beans in Upstate New York and grind them fresh in their store. 71 Irving Place is located at their namesake 71 Irving Place, New York, New York, 10003. They are open Monday through Thursday 7:00am to 11:00pm, Friday 7:00am to Midnight, Saturday 8:00am to Midnight, and Sundays 8:00am to 11:00pm. Get there early unless you want to eat your brunch out on one of the benches in front of the store. They can be reached at (212) 995-5252.

How could a restaurant with the name Popover Caf© not serve up the perfect New York City brunch? Mmmmm, warm and soft popovers are just the perfect brunch food with a hot cup of coffee. They are great for walking the streets of New York City and eating too! Popover Caf© is located in the upper west side neighborhood of New York City at 551 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, New York, 10024. Oddly enough there are teddy bears and a large amount of pillows in the dining room. I personally found this to be a little odd in New York, but hey, I guess anything goes at brunch in the big apple. Be sure to have the strawberry butter on at least one of your popovers at brunch. It is sweet and good and a signature item at the Popover Caf©. The only drawback to the Popover Caf© would be the extremely long lines to getting in the door. I guess just acknowledging that if all of these people are willing to wait, this must be a great brunch. Popover Caf© is open Monday through Friday 8:00am to 10:00pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am to 10:00pm. They can be reached at (212) 595-8555.

For brunch in New York City with a little tourist flare you should definitely check our Norma’s in the bottom of the Parker Meridien Hotel. So, you won’t see a plethora of locals necessarily, but tourists make for great people watching over brunch too! This is one brunch that makes it mark on New York City. Fresh squeezed juice, coffee made for you in a French press, and super cute waiters make this one easy brunch to wash down. Portions are large and worthy of their New York City location. You will find traditional brunch items like French toast and omelets. Nothing is made on a small scale, so be prepared for some fanfare and pizzazz. Definitely prepare yourself for some amazingly large portions. I shared a tomato frittata made with egg whites for brunch and still had leftovers! Norma’s is located at 118 West 57th Street, New York, New York, 10019. You can reach them at (212) 708-7460.
