We had tried on our own for about two months to get rid of the problem, but it did not go away. The last straw was when we saw one of our little eight legged friends, which could have passed for a tarantula. Immediately I flipped through the phone book and started calling exterminators, comparing prices. I lucked out when one gentleman not only explained their service, but asked if we were interested in the new “Green” service. Being familiar with the new term “green” I knew what he was referring to. I was not even aware that this existed. Not only being concerned about the environment, but also concerned about my breathing problems and asthma, I listened. After calling several other services, I ended up with my original choice. They are a North Florida pest control service called Bug Out.
The service entailed the serviceman placing granules behind all appliances, gels around all door cracks and windows, safe spray around the rest of the house. On the outside, they sprayed the flower beds and up to two feet away from the house. The service also included spraying underneath the foundation where a crack was visible and spraying both the spray and granules in the attack. The garage was also taken care off.
The use chemical produced by Eco SMART. The site states that they are a patented botanical green product. Upon doing some further research, I found out that the chemicals have been tested extensively and found to cause no harm to humans, animals or plants. It also does not run off into water supplies, and has been found to not harm the air around us. It does however cause great harm to spider, bugs, roaches, silverfish, ants, and most other crawling insects. It does not guarantee against termites, fleas or rodents. As I do not have a problem with the later three, this was no problem
Two weeks after the service, I have had no breathing problems, my pets are healthy, and none of the plants are harmed. I was very impressed, as I wheeze anytime any substance, even cologne is sprayed. In addition, I have not seen one spider and the ants that use to march behind the kitchen counter, are gone also.
The service cost $99 down and $25 a month for a year contract. Your home is retreated every ninety days, starting thirty days after the initial treatment. Also, if you see any pests in the meantime, additional treatments are at no charge. I found this to be very economical compared to other services.
I would highly recommend for readers to call their local pest control service and ask for the “green” service. Not only will you be doing the environment a favor, but your lungs as well. Your pests might not be too happy though!
