Building Your Online Dream

I’ve been teaching internet marketing since way back in the days when everything was black & white.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Netscape, let alone IE hadn’t been invented.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ I’m a visual person by nature, and had to learn how to paint a picture in someone’s mind with words about what I was selling back in those days.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ That’s ‘almost’ a lost art in today’s visuals, graphics, sound clips, etc.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Now it’s time to put words to paper and define your goals and dreams!!

Motivation generally stems from three basic factors:

1.�¯�¿�½ Sales / Income (natch)
2.�¯�¿�½ Quality of Product / Service provided
3.�¯�¿�½ A Dream

There are NUMEROUS other factors, but let’s just deal with these for now.

Lets take a closer look at #1:

You’ve had some decent sales and/or income … that’s nice.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Define WHY you got sales.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ That can help increase your future earnings.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ For instance, I’m quite an expert at selling ‘air’.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Yes, ‘AIR’!Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ I create ebooks / epatterns for machine knitters.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ I was virtually the first to do that and market them on eBay.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ If you take a quick look at the feedback for my eBay personna which is:Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ nevadamercantileÃ?¯Ã?¿Ã?½Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ you’ll see how enthusiastic the machine knitting world is about ebooks and epatterns!Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ I used what I KNOW about … knitting machines … I identified a need (hard copy machine knitting books can be very pricey) and filled that need with very low pricing.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ I make my profits on quantity.

Now let’s take a look at #2:

What is the quality level of your product or service?Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Is it Top Of The Line?Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Moderate?Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Minimal?Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ This can greatly affect sales and thus your motivation in your business.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ If it’s not the very best, perhaps you should look for an additional product or service you may be able to market.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ You don’t need to give up totally on your main one, just LOOK around the net for something that may enhance or compliment your product/service and boost sales.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ For instance, besides my other projects, I design websites geared toward the crafter.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ My sales were ‘okay’, but I wanted to increase my clientele.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ After much searching on the web, I purchased a bulk ‘package’ deal which gave me all sorts of freebie software that helps websites garner more visitors.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ I also signed on as an affiliate for three different hosting sites so I could direct folks to one of them, depending on their individual website needs.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ I got a referral payment, my contracts for building sites increased and I was a happy camper.

Now for the last …Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ A DREAM

We all have dreams about our futures.�¯�¿�½ Goals.�¯�¿�½ Dreams.�¯�¿�½ Wishful Thinking.�¯�¿�½ DayDreaming.�¯�¿�½ Lots of terms suit that.�¯�¿�½ But if YOU actually have a dream in your mind, then there are three main factors that will help you realize that dream.�¯�¿�½

DESIRE — is it really what you want?Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Perhaps an avocation rather than a vocation?Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ I have mine.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ What’s yours???

DETERMINATION — just how determined are you in your quest for your dream??Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Do you ACTIVELY work towards that dream?Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Or do you make excuses for why you’ve not done something you scheduled?Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½

DISCIPLINE — Procrastination is the major cause of the death of any dream.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ If you cannot manage to resolve this, then your dream will, unfortunately, die a slow death.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Write down your DESIRES.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Fine tune them.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Look at your DETERMINATION … are you on track?Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ If so, then proceed to the DISCIPLINE phase.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Get a calendar / day runner / whatever you prefer.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Schedule your life around your DREAM!!

Factor in �
Work time – your regular job
Family time – don’t neglect them, they can be your BIGGEST asset and cheering section.
Personal relaxation time – prevent burn-out
Online business time

Make sure family & friends understand the necessity for this time you set aside.
