Buying Guide to GE Microwaves

There are basically three different kinds of Microwaves. There is obviously the traditional countertop microwave, then there is the built-in microwave witch can be installed in to or above your cupboards, and last but certainly not least there is the over-the-range microwave witch is installed and set above your oven. Now while over-the-range microwaves can be pretty pricey, GE offers superb heating and cooking technology along with every microwave such as their “Speed cook technology” which delivers oven-quality cooked food at up to eight times faster than any conventional oven.

GE also offers halogen cook top lighting for brilliant, natural lighting to illuminate every inch of the cooking surface.
With GE’s sensor cooking controls the microwave automatically adjusts the time and power for exceptional cooking results every time. There are also multiple cooking modes so you can bake, broil, brown, roasts, microwaves and grills extremely fast with no preheating time necessary. GE over-the-range microwaves also come in a variety of sizes, one sure to fit in the designed area above your range with ease. The least expensive GE over-the-range microwave I have seen is about $219, which seems a little pricey to me for a microwave but at the same time you have to consider, One, the brand, and Two, all of the great features you are getting with your purchase.

With a GE built-in microwave, it is a similar to the over-the-range microwave with a couple subtle differences such as; the door of the over-the-range microwave opens the same way a standard microwave door would open, but with a built-in microwave the door opens like an oven door, from top to bottom, this creates more free counter space. It is also designed more like an oven door because of the way these particular microwaves set between the top and bottom counters. GE built-in microwaves come in 27-30 inches in width, 18-21 inches high, and 27-32 inches deep. GE built-in microwaves can cost anywhere from $869 to $2119, the higher you are willing to pay, the more advanced features you will receive for your dollar. One of the really neat features the more expensive GE microwaves has is the programmed menu items, the GE microwave comes with over 100 pre-programmed manual, cook, help and demo modes to make cooking with your new GE microwave as easy as possible for you.

Moving on now to the standard counter top GE microwave, while coming in a whole lot cheaper than the built-in and over-the-range microwaves, the standard GE counter top microwave does not hold back on power, exceptional features, and of course the brilliance of GE technology. You can also purchase the optional trim kit for your GE counter top microwave which offers a built-in appearance to a counter top model, and removable oven racks make multi-dish cooking quite easily possible. Now the most expensive GE counter top microwave I have seen is $519 and the lowest price I have seen for a GE counter top microwave is a whopping $69. Now the $69 GE microwave was really neat because it has a Child lock out system in it, which enables you to lock the keypad on the microwave to prevent the children from pushing the buttons and accidentally starting the microwave. Now I have three nephews and the two older ones love to push buttons on things, especially the microwave because they know they’re not supposed to, but with this GE microwave and GE’s brilliant child lock out system, no more pushing buttons for those kids.

Another cool thing GE standard counter top microwaves has that is pretty cool is the auto defrost, the GE microwave automatically sets the defrosting times and power levels to give even defrosting results for all of your meats, poultry, and fish weighing up to six pounds.
