Buying Guide to GE Profile Top-Freezer Refrigerator

Buying a new refrigerator has never been so, well, confusing! With so many new models and designs to choose from, it is no wonder why some customers are scratching their heads and displaying that “help me” look. I did find one product that will take some of the guess work out of looking for your next refrigerator. I checked out the GE Profile 24.6 cubic foot top-freezer refigerator, model PTS25SHSSS. Lucky for me, I found a great knowledgeable sales associate who could answer all of my questions. First and foremost, this is an incredible steal for the features, as this model comes in under the radar at under $2,000.

One of the questions you will want to ask when you are looking for any kind of new large kitchen appliance, is whether or not it is an Energy Star qualified product. These Energy Star qualified products are becoming increasingly popular with each passing day, and you do not want to be left behind. I am certain everyone would like to be able to walk into their kitchen and see a stylish and modern looking appliance to look at, and GE aims to please with the stainless steel design of this unit. Stainless steel is not only extremely attractive, but it is as easy to clean and maintain as it is stylish.

There is a smart internal water dispenser with GE developed Smart Water filtration system, which is great for on the go water dispensing. This unit also features the factory-installed icemaker. If you are looking for a refrigerator, you will find that many models come standard with ice and water dispensers these days. If you have not had one in the past, you might consider finding a model that comes with this convenient feature. The digital display on the front of the refrigerator keeps you from having to guess what the interior temperatures inside the refrigerator and freezer compartments is. The numbers are simply displayed for your viewing at any time, and should you need to change the temperature in any of the compartments, the ClimateKeeper Temperature Management System in this unit consist of electronic sensors and digital control panel to ensure ease of use.

On the inside, you will find a ClearLook adjustable door bin that easily accommodates two gallon containers for milk or other gallon beverage storage. Multiple slide out glass shelves line the interior of this wonderful GE unit, and you will have adjustable temperature controls on your deli drawer and your vegetable and fruit crispers. This will ensure that no matter what, you will have complete control over the storage management of the foods in the bins, which will ultimately keep them fresher! The GE developed SelfSave Rack allows you even more storage space for larger items such as twelve packs of soda.

In the freezer compartment, you will find FrostGuard Technology which keeps your food items from being subjected to unwanted freezer burn by monitoring when the door to the freezer is opened, and defrosting only when necessary. The tilt out freezer bins in the freezer compartment will add convenience to moving items about in the freezer or finding certain food items.

One thing that you should look for in any large kitchen appliance is noise. Look for features such as the sound control system found on the GE profile refrigerator. The system found on this model is said to be GE’s most advanced.

As with any new large purchase, be sure to ask your salesperson for any warranties that the units come with. This particular unit comes with the manufacturer’s full one year warranty which covers the entire appliances, parts and labor, should your appliance need repairs. Also be sure to inquire whether or not your purchase is eligible for any rebates!
