Buying a Weight Lifting Bench

Weight lifting is both a challenging hobby and the best way to develop your strength and tone and shape your muscles-all for the results of feeling great about yourself. If you are thinking about lifting weights, the place to start is with a weight lifting bench, because that’s the very place you will be doing most of your exercises.

Cheap weight benches are easily available online from many discount outlets. You can get a decent bench with adjustable squat racks for under $200. Experts in weight lifting recommend this for a beginner as best so that you have your bench and squat rack together. You need both the bench and the squat rack in order to make progress in your strength and training goals. A word to the wise though, when buying a bench, look out for bolts. Usually if the adjustment on a bench relies on bolts, the chances are it will not be strong enough. You will want a workout bench with a back that can be adjusted to different angles. It’s also best to get one with a rack that barbells can be set on. This way you don’t have to worry about getting the weight in position before you perform your exercise. But, another word to the wise, don’t change plates on a barbell when it’s on the rack because it unbalances the barbell and it may tip over. Add and remove plates only while weights are on the floor! You will probably want to get a cheap barbell set including dumbbells which are also readily available online at discount outlets. If you intend to use just dumbbells, then weight benches with just inclines may be your best bet. But, most likely you will want to target different muscles using the incline and decline positions on your bench.

Progressing is the challenge in lifting weights-whether you are going to use light weights or heavy weights. And no matter what your level, male or female, experts– even those who train in Olympic lifting– agree that warm ups, stretches, a routine and perfect form are all necessary when lifting weights on the bench. So, find yourself the best weight lifting apparatus for your home, and the next back, shoulders or chest that you admire may be yours.
