Camping Sleeping Bag Review: Wenger Rectangular Sleeping Bag with Hollofil II

I have never owned a camping sleeping bag that I loved as much as my Wenger. I mean-I LOVE my Wenger. In the past, every upcoming camping trip triggered my temptation to buy a “better” sleeping bag for my tender body – but the buck stops with my Wenger. I use it over and over and over again. As a matter of fact, my husband thinks it’s so great that he asked why I never bought him one, too. I’ve answered with a warning to keep his hands off my Wenger. Why so much fuss over a piece of material that I sleep in just a few days out of the year?

First of all, after a long day of outdoor hiking and camping, slipping into the soft Wenger sleeping bag truly brings the comforts of home to mind. The fluffy Hollofil II stuffing cradles my aching points like a luxury comforter. The Wenger sleeping bag is especially comfy when combined with a little cushioned mat underneath. The detachable pillow serves just as well as my full-sized ones at home and the wide legroom allows me to relax my tired body without claustrophobic feelings of compression. A large individual whose bigger build usually causes him to hate zipping up a sleeping bag will feel just fine in this 35″x90″ roomy quilt. It is rated for 20 degree weather, but the Wenger sleeping bag works just as well for the warmer summer nights. The zipper is easy to open and the Velcro closure at the zip opening prevents slippage in case I toss and turn a bit too much. (That rarely happens when using the Wenger sleeping bag). The drawstring feature at the shoulder area locks in body heat to keep toasty on colder evenings. Even the rich maroon color with gold-yellow trimmings and Wenger logo accent makes this sleeping bag look stylish. It sure seems more grown up than my old Star Wars sleeping bag. The Wenger also comes with its own stuff sack with straps to help compact the sleeping bag even more. It’s not surprising that the sack features the Wenger logo and name tag to mark this piece of sacred camping property. There are even stylish yellow loops that I use to hang the bag up when not in use. The comfort offered by this sleeping bag is worth every ounce of its 3 lb 5 oz weight when considering backpacking trips.

Cleaning the Wenger is simple as it slips into the washer easily and it dries quickly and painlessly compared to other sleeping bags that I own. Even after several uses and washes, the bag still feels as soft as new and it will be the first item that I grab for my next camping trip. Considering the price, (mine was about $35 at my local discount warehouse,) this is a definite great buy which will bring many years of comfort living while “roughing it” in the summer.
