So your pup needs a bath, but the mess is a bit much to clean up at home. Or maybe you’re absolutely nuts about your pup and you don’t want to leave him in anyone else’s care. Well, at Scrub Your Pup both problems are solved-you can give your pooch a bath yourself and someone else will clean up the mess! That’s the idea behind Chicago’s first self-service dog wash located in the hip Lakeview neighborhood. SYP provides everything you need to bathe your pooch including: brushes, shampoos, blow dryers, towels, ear cleaner and colognes. For around $15 you can do it yourself or if you would like a professional to handle the wash, the SYP staff is available seven days a week to wash you pup, clean his ears, trim the nails and hair around the paws and brush his coat out. And yes, you can stay and watch. Scrub Your Pup does not use cage dryers and walk-ins are always welcome. Hours are: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday & Sunday.

The Ritz Kennel Salon
1347 N. Sedgwick Street
Chicago, IL 60610
(312) 654-1973
The exterior of this unassuming grooming parlor located on the near north side of Chicago features a stencil of a single puppy perched atop a crown above the entrance. This is the only indication you’ll have that there’s a puppy salon in this brick building tucked away on a quiet residential street. This cozy 500 sq. ft. grooming salon services pups by appointment only and the small staff of three offers so much individual attention to pets, that their appointment calendar stays pretty full, but not impossible to book.
Owner and 19-year-veteran groomer Laura Rosen uses a wide range of shampoos such as oatmeal, medicated, hypoallergenic and several all-natural varieties to meet the specific needs of each pup. The “basic wash and cut” is the theme here and all pups are hand-dried with forced air, low-heat dryers. A small retail shop in the waiting area offers a few collar styles, leashes and nutritional treats.
