Raleigh, NC has tons of Chinese food restaurants scattered in shopping centers and on street corners all over town. With so many different restaurants to choose from it can be difficult to decide where to go. If you are looking for a good buffet then the fortune palace is a terrific place to do. They have a humongous buffet that is open daily for lunch and dinner and is filled to the brim with different types of chicken, beef and pork dishes as well as soups and egg rolls. My only complaint about the fortune palace is their interior is kind of crappy. The food is terrific, but it’s just not a nice looking place on the inside.

The interior looks like the place is run down, and on the verge of closing, literally at any moment. Most Chinese restaurants however seem to have the problems of sub-par dining rooms, so while it may not be a place you want to go on a hot date, it can still be a wonderful place to go and have a good lunch or dinner. The food is always outstanding, and is reasonably priced.

For a Chinese restaurant near a college campus, the Shanghai Express is very expensive. They have really good food, and if you are craving Chinese late at night that are open and very convenient to NC State as well as the downtown area. My favorite thing to get here is their sweet and sour chicken. They do something in the making of this dish, that makes it stand out from all the competition. I’m willing to pay a little more and go here when I’m in the mood for a little sweet and sour chicken. The price difference is defiantly worth it for some really good Chinese food.

The staff here is also one of the best that I have seen in the area. They are always very pleasant when I visit, and are accommodating if I need to change an order, or want something made a little differently.

The china house is really the perfect Chinese restaurant. The Chinese food here is cheap and it tastes fantastic. They have a full menu of all your Chinese food favorites, and their portions are always very large so you more than likely will end up going home with a take home bag of Chinese for a snack or meal later as well. The China House is located in Knightdale which is on the outskirts of Raleigh. It’s worth the brief drive however if you are buying Chinese for a large group and want to save a little money on some great food.
