Most moms do not register for their baby showers until they are asked to do so, or until they have passed the six month hurdle. Usually by this time the doctors can tell what you will be having, a boy or girl. Although some moms still choose to keep it a surprise. But now comes the fun part of the pregnancy, you get to choose what you want and need for your new family addition. But there are just so many options to choose from how and where do you begin?

Well the first thing that you will need to do is figure out where you want to register. A few good places that are less expensive are places like Target, or Walmart. But the most popular place to register is “Babies R Us”. You can even do your entire registry on-line, which is great if you are not up to visiting the store. Although at “Babies R Us” the prices may be a little higher, you will definitely get what you need. Besides you will be getting everything as gifts, so this is your opportunity to splurge.

Once you decide on where you want to register you will then need to begin doing a little research. If you take a look at the “Babies R Us” website you will see that there are a lot of comments from people who have actually used the items listed. You should really take the time to read these comments. You do not want to register for something, only to find out later that it does not work or is too big and bulky. Most on-line baby registries will give you detailed information. But it is the customer feedback that you want to look for.

You will also want to do an on-line search for any re-called items. Most baby items that have been recalled will be removed from the majority of stores. But unfortunately not all stores will remove these items. This would also include researching any toys that you want to add to your registry. Some of the toys are just plain silly and really not worth the money. Also keep in mind that just because an item may cost more, it does not mean that it is better. Sometimes the cheaper items work better than those that cost much more.

When it comes to items such as car seats you will want to make sure that you get one with a high rating. You can even visit the “AAA” website they have several ideas and suggestions on how to choose the safest car seat. Once you finish doing your on-line search, go to the store and look and items. Even if you have already added it to your list you can always change your mind and remove it. If possible talk to other moms in your area who have just recently had a baby and ask them what things they received at their shower.

Find out which items they liked and which ones they do not like, and then find out why it did not work for them. Just because an item did not work for someone else does not mean that you may not like it. Also let your husband be involved in the registry process. You will be surprised at how many husband’s actually want to be involved in choosing items for the baby. Last but certainly not least make sure you include something in your registry for yourself. After nine months of being pregnant you deserve a little bit of pampering too
