Choosing the Right Paint Color for Your Kitchen- Computers to the Rescue

When you decide that it’s time to finally do that long overdue project of painting your kitchen, deciding on the best color choice isn’t always easy. You may have one in mind, or 3 or 4 if you’re like me, so how do you know which one will suit you and your kitchen best? Paint swatches do not do your kitchen justice, and it’s a pain to get multiple colors and paint samples on the wall. So what’s the solution? Computers of course! There are multiple computer programs available to you now that allow you to view numerous color choices and how they will look in your own home.

Many paint manufacturers now offer a software program that allows you to import a digital picture from the room you wish to paint, and then use the colors they offer to fill in the blanks. You can instantly switch from color to color to easily determine the best color or color scheme that you desire. If you have a digital camera, this makes it very easy because you can upload the photos right to your computer where the program is. Otherwise, many paint stores offer this option to their customers at the store.

If you don’t have a digital camera, another option is to scan an actual picture of the room into the computer program. Many printers now come with scanners, and as with the camera option, many stores also have scanners available for your use. If you know you want to look at a certain color, however, and that color is trademarked by the specific paint manufacturer, you will have to use a color similar to the one you want, or find out if that company has computer software available for this type of purpose. Many colors that are trademarked do have several color options extremely similar to them, so you most likely will not have a problem finding the closest match for your viewing purposes.

By using software of this nature, it allows for a fast and easy color comparison to make your home redecorating much easier and more enjoyable. Many of your local paint stores will be able to lead you the right direction when it comes to finding colors and programs available that suit your abilities and purpose. If they themselves do not offer a paint preview service, they will more than likely be able to recommend someone who does.
