Clean a Mystery Stain in 5 Steps

Getting rid of a mystery stain on a clothing item can be a challenge if you don’t know what to do. However, there is a way using the simplest to the most complicated solution to rid almost any spot. Here it is…

Step 1) Use cool water.Cold water is one of the best stain-busting solutions in existence. And, the best thing about it is that it’s free. So, when you confront a mystery stain, run it under cool water and see if it begins to dissolve. Even if you don’t add any detergent, it can begin to break up some stains immediately. You can also saturate a cloth and dab it over your item.

Step 2) Get out the white vinegar. If you want to avoid the use of chemicals, but water alone is not eliminating your unwanted stain, pull out some white vinegar. Make a solution of water and a teaspoon of it. Then, dip your clothing item in it and watch it work. If it the spot doesn’t break up, you can apply your solution to a cloth and rub over the area. This process will get you your best results. Afterwards, wash as usual in order to get rid of the sour smell of vinegar. (Warning: Do not use this remedy for cotton or linen.)

Step 3) Apply ammonia. We all know that ammonia is good for cleaning things. However, only a few of us realize that those things include stains. If you have a tough stain on a clothing item, mix a teaspoon of water with a some water. As in the prior two steps, you can pour this solution over the stain and see if it works or use a cloth to apply it. Then, wait for your results. Afterwards, be sure to flush the area with water to get rid of the excess ammonia. (Warning: Do not use this remedy for cotton or linen.)

Step 4) Try Alcohol. For a stubborn stain, rub it out with a 50/50 solution of rubbing alcohol with water. You can either flush your clothing item with it or apply it with a cloth. Either way, this option can work wonders.

Step 5) Add Brilliant Bleach. If the first four steps don’t work for you, opt for a little Brilliant Bleach. This product can remove a lot of stains, even blood. Once you obtain a bottle, just follow the directions on it.
