Cleaning Leather Clothing

Leather is a durable fabric, but it does require special care to stay that way. Washing leather clothes wrong can permanently destroy them. Some people have their leather clothing dry cleaned, but this is not necessary. To clean leather clothes safely you just need to know what cleaning products to use and how to use them. There are many homemade cleaners and common household supplies you can use to clean your leather clothing.

Things You’ll Need
Jug 

3 1/3 cup Olive oil 

1/3 cup Castile soap 

40 to 60 drops Essential oil (your choice by fragrance) 

8 to 12 drops Grape seed extract 

Spray bottle 

Soft cloths 

Baby shampoo

Step 1
Absorb liquid from fresh stains by blotting them with a clean, soft cloth.

Step 2
Mix 3 1/3 cups olive oil, 1/3 cup castile soap, between 40 to 60 drops of a fragrant essential oil, between 8 to 12 drops of grape seed extract and a 1/2 gallon of water. Mix the ingredients in a gallon jug and shake well. You can also use warm water and a few drops of baby shampoo.

Step 3
Fill a clean spray bottle with the leather cleaning solution. Put the cap on the spray bottle and shake the bottle.

Step 4
Spray the leather cleaning solution on the leather clothes. Rub the the leather clothes with a clean, soft cloth.

Step 5
Remove any residue of soap with a clean moist cloth.

Step 6
Dry and buff the leather to a shine with a clean soft cloth. Work slowly and move the cloth across the leather in small, circular motions.

Tips
For an alternative leather cleaning solution, fill a bowl with warm water and add a few drops of baby shampoo. Submerge a soft cloth in the soapy water and wring it out. Use the submerged rag to wipe the leather clean.
