Comparing the Snugli Front and Back Carrier to the Baby Original Carrier by Baby Bjorn- Which is Better?

When you are in search of a baby carrier your first though probably goes to your babies comfort and their safety, but along with that comes a lot more. You will need to make sure that it is comfortable for you and that it will fit your needs. Two baby carriers that I found to be very different in price were somewhat similar. This article will compare the pros and cons of both of those carriers, in order to help moms make the right decision.

First we will cover the pros of the snugli front and back carrier:

1. The price is very reasonable. Unlike other similar carriers this one only cost about thirty dollars, and if you are able to get it on sale you will probably end up spending a lot less money.

2. It has three separate carrying positions for your baby. This gives you the option of facing your baby in and out, or you can carry them on your back utilizing the backpack style.

3. It has side entry buckles that make it easy for any parent to load and unload their child. I use this feature very often to get my son in and out of the carrier. It works really well and makes it easier to manage. This is definitely a feature that all carriers should have.

4. Has a padded backrest for your child’s head. This is mostly a feature that you will use when your baby is an infant, and it definitely keeps your baby comfortable and helps to give them that extra added support that they need.

5. Removable storage pocket. This works really well if you want to carry your credit cards or a little cash. It was a little too small for my wallet, but if you get a smaller wallet you should be able to fit it in this pocket. It does however hold your cell phone rather nicely, and if you do not feel like having the extra pocket than you can just remove it. Definitely a great feature.

6. Very easy to clean. All you have to do is put it in the washing machine and allow it to air dry and you are done. This is definitely a plus for this item.

I was only able to come up with two cons for the snugli front and back carrier:

1. Makes you hot in the summer. Importunely this product is not very well ventilated and tends to make you sweat a lot. It also makes the baby pretty warm as well. If they added a few more features that would make it better ventilated I really think that this product would work a lot better.

2. It is sometimes difficult to buckle. If you do not have someone to help you it can sometimes be difficult to buckle some of the straps, without them being crooked or twisted. Although this does not happed to often, it is sometimes better to have help.

Now let’s take a look at the pros for the original baby carrier by Baby Bjorn:

1. Very comfortable for baby. This carrier seems to be very comfortable for any baby. A lot more so than the other carriers that is currently on the market. I spoke to several moms who have used this carrier and they say that it is very comfortable for them and the baby.

2. Easy to remove the baby. Many parents say that it is very easy to remove the baby from this particular carrier. One thing that many parents want is to be able to remove your children quickly and easily.

3. Good head and back support. Just like the previous mentioned snugli it gives excellent head and back support for your baby. This is especially important when you are carrying around an infant since they obviously will need the most support.

4. Allows moms to discreetly breastfeed. I must say that many moms agreed that the best feature of this particular carrier is that it allows you to breastfeed your baby discreetly no matter where you are. This is definitely a plus for moms.

5. Not a lot of straps to worry about. Unlike the snugli this carrier does not have a lot of straps and is a lot easier for mom to put on.

The cons of the Original carrier by Baby Bjorn are:

1. Very expensive. This item costs about eighty dollars and when compared with similar carries happens to be among the most expensive.

2. No pockets to carry any small items like a wallet. Since this carrier does not have any additional pockets, you will definitely have to take along a pocket book or small baby bag. This will mean that you will have more to carry and may make things more difficult for you.

As you can see by the comparisons in this article the Snugli baby carrier had a lot more pros than the Baby Bjorn carrier. It does not nessacarilly mean that you should not buy the Bjorn. The best thing for any parent to do is look through this article and then visit the store and take a look at both of them in person. The bottom line is that you will need to decide which will work best for you.
