Computer Game Review of Putt-Putt Enters the Race
Ages 3-8
Story – Putt-Putt Enters the Race
This is a fun, colorful game. My first impression was that it was a simple race game but it’s more of an adventure game. Putt-Putt receives a notice in the mail to enter the Car Town 500. The player guides Putt-Putt to the raceway, but before you can race, you need to gather a few items to get Putt-Putt ready. This leads the player into town to find the items needed.
The main goal of the adventure is to gather what is needed to enter the race. The player also earns coins and items for helping and recycling. The game’s attitude toward winning the race is a positive one. Putt-Putt tells us that winning the race would be nice but it’s fun just to be in it.
Lay of the Land – Putt-Putt Enters the Race
There are a number of places to explore. There’s the center of town with a gas station, toy store, fire station and more. A second area contains houses, and the library. There’s also an ice cream shop, tire place, recycling center, tunnel, farm, and more areas. In each area, the player can visit houses or buildings and find items needed or help out friends.
Skills and Activities – Putt-Putt Enters the Race
The adventure involves quite a bit of problem solving. There are also puzzles, working with numbers and shapes, and learning to dial 911 for a fire. Recycling is promoted. Putt-Putt picks up empty bottles throughout town to recycle for change.
Best Activities:
Especially appealing to kids is the car wash where they can scrub, wash, and wax Putt-Putt. Another main attraction, apart from the race itself, is the garage where Putt-Putt, after earning enough coins, can change paint color.
Reason to Buy:
Fun colorful game with fun and educational activities.
