Creating and Publishing Static Pages in Joomla

So you need a page linked to a button on your menu? Like an “about me” page. Then you will need to create a Static Page. Creating Static Pages will allow you to link a page to your menu or anywhere you need it. In this guide I will show you how to create a Static Page and Publish it in Joomla.

Creating a Static Page in Joomla

Step 1 – Login to your Joomla Admin Panel.

Step 2 – At the top of your admin panel click on Content > Site Content Manager. That will open your Static Content Manager Page.

Step 3 – Up in the right hand corner you will see little Icons. Click on the New Icon.

Step 4 – Now you will see the Static Content Item : New page. You will need to fill in the Fields.

Under Title Type in the Title of your page.

Under Title Alias You can type something that will be easy for you to remember.

Under Text is where you will type what you want on your page.

Now you have created your Static Page so we will move on to Publishing it.

Publishing Your Static Page

Step 1 – Under Published you need to click Publish.

Step 2 – Select the option of your choice under Access Level.

Step 3 – Enter the name that you prefer under Author Alias.

Step 4 – Enter the Name of the Creator.

Step 5 – You can enter the Date to publish this page and when to take it down.

Step 6 – Click on the Save Icon at the top in the right hand corner.

Now you will be carried to the Static Content Manager Page. You should see the page that you just created. Now follow these steps and you will be done.

Step 1 – Click on Menu > Main Menu.

Step 2 – At the top right hand corner click on the Icon labeled New.

Step 3 – On that page find where it says Link – Static Content. It is located in the Link Box. Click the button next to Link – Static Content.

Step 4 – Click the Next Icon in the top right hand corner.

Step 5 – You should now be on the Add Menu Item :: Link – Static Content Page.

Under Name – Type in the name that you want to show up on your menu.

Under Static Content – Select the Name of your page you just created.

Under Onclick – Choose which ever one you prefer.

Under Parent Item – Choose which ever one you prefer. If you want the link to appear in the menu by default click Top. Or choose other if you want it to appear as a sublink.

Under Access Level – Choose the option of your choice.

Under Publish – Click Yes.

Now Click the Save Icon in the top right hand corner.

You have just created and published your first static page in Joomla. You can see your static page by Site> Preview > In New Window. Or by going to your homepage.
