DIY Project: Side Table Pet Cage
You Can Turn an Ordinary Side table Into a Comfortable cage for your pet in a variety of ways and save some money at the same time.
To Turn a Side Table Into a Pet Cage You Will Need:
1 Side table
Screening
Staple gun
Jig Saw
Power drill
So, depending on your side table, you have a few options for transforming it into an attractive pet cage for you dog or cat.
Ideally you should look for a side table that has an open compartment underneath with two or one doors that open into it. I will try to give you some other options at the end of the article.
Now, use a power drill to drill a hole directly through the center of the door(s). Insert your jigsaw blade into the hole and start cutting out the middle of the door. Follow the lined of the door leaving a frame around the edges.
Repeat this on the back of the side table as well.
Use a stain paint pen or matching paint to paint out the fresh cut wood to blend in. Let this dry.
Now, use window screen to cover those openings you just made. Simply cut the piece of screen a little large than the opening. Staple gun this into place form the side of the opening.
Now, of you need to use a side table with only four legs underneath to make a good looking dog or cat cage, then here is another option that involves no wood cutting.
You will need four tension rod and some fabric. Cut your fabric so that one piece will cover the inside of each side of the side able.
Hem all the edges. Fold the top edge over and se wit down to create a pocket.
Insert a tension rod into each pocket and then place then on all four sides fo the coffee table, just like mini shower curtains.
Now, insert you dog or cat carry cage under the side table and you are fished!
This version of the attractive dog or cat cage is easy even if you do not own a sewing machine. You can use a iron on fusible no sew product to hem and sew the lines on the fabric. It will hold and work just like sewing the curtains on the attractive pet cage.
