Detroit Zoo
They offer many types of animals here. Some of their animals are housed in very close habitats as they would be in the wild. The primate habitat is awesome. There are many chances to see different primates. The animals in this exhibit look very well taken care off. The chimps even come up to you pretty close and stare at you. Its all pretty neat. Some of the other exhibits are not so good in my personal opinion. The one that bothered me the most was the bears. These are big animals, that need a lot of room to roam free like they would in the wild. They had one of the smallest exhibits out of all the animals. Made me feel sorry for them. The polar bear exhibit was a really nice ideal. You walk through this tunnel and watch the water animals go over top of you. The animals don’t go over this to often. In this tunnel its very hot and stuffy making it hard to breath. You cant get any good pictures from this either as the glass was so scratched.
There are lots of other things to do besides seeing animals. There are picnic areas with food courts. The food was pretty well priced. Wasn’t very expensive. Drinks come in neat take home cups. There is a mini railroad that will take you from the back to the front. Only downfall i seen from this was if you wanted to ride a round trip you must get off and get back in line. Go for a ride on the simulator if you think you can handle this.
The staff was always cleaning here. They seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. They always explained to the children and the parents what the animals where doing and why there where doing this.
My experience with this zoo was for the most part nice. There were a few things that i did not care for. there were a lot of things that also impressed me. They have strollers,wagons and wheelchairs you may rent if need to. They also offer guided tours. This zoo is a non smoking zoo. No straws or lids are aloud in the zoo.
