Discover Falmouth Jamaica

The summer is never ending in this Caribbean rain forest filled with lush almond trees, palms, hundreds of species of ferns and hint of tropical flowers in the air. Jamaica is truly a Caribbean jewel. Most people have heard of or even visited Jamaica’s “big three” Montego Bay, Negril or its capitol Kingston. However, the small town of Falmouth offers a travelers and wonderful respite from big city vacations and is within a short distance from some of the most amazing natural attractions Jamaica has to offer.

There are many accommodation options and vast price ranges for travelers wishing to visit the north coast. As well, there are many interesting and truly unique experiences within a few hours drive of Falmouth and its resorts. If travelers wish to spoil themselves on loungers on the beach or keep their feet in the water during their stay in Jamaica, the north coast offers miles and miles of beautiful sandy and sometimes rocky beaches. For the more adventuresome, a day trip to Ocho Rios, home to Dunn’s River Falls and Dolphin Cove, can have travelers swimming with dolphins or climbing the famous 600 foot cool waterfalls know as Dunn’s River.

If food or music is your thing, Jamaica offers plenty of unique fare. Falmouth is only a short drive from Nine Mile, the birthplace of legendary Reggae Rocker Bob Marley. And spicy jerk chicken or pork can be found in every nook on the island.

Finally, an evening trip not to be missed if you find yourself in the beautiful part of the world: a dip in the Luminous Lagoon. The Luminous Lagoon is a natural phenomenon of microscopic organisms that live in the brackish water at the mouth of the Martha Brea River as it meets the Caribbean Sea. These organisms illuminate when the water is disturbed causing an incredible greenish glow as boats travel through the area or when travelers stop to swim in the lagoon.

Whether your pleasure runs to relaxation, adventure or just good food: Jamaica’s north coast is worth a visit.
