Disney Princess Talking Wand by ThinkWay Toys

Like a lot of little girls, my 4 year old is enchanted with princesses, fairies, and of course the magic wands that is seen in the hands of fairy godmothers and princesses. After watching Shrek 2, I noticed that she would use different objects around the house and pretend it was a wand. She would cast make believe spells and make swirls in the air, imitating her favorite fairy godmother or princess. She probably would have been content playing with her imaginary wand, but I knew she would be delighted if she had a real wand toy instead. As I was looking around, I noticed that there were several different wands to choose from. Disney Princess Talking Wand caught my eye because for one, it talks. Also, my daughter’s favorite princesses were were brightly displayed on the front of the wand. For 9.99, I bought this adorable wand and brought it home as a surprise gift for my little one.

Disney Princess Talking Wand

Disney Princess Talking Wand is a 14 inch talking wand that operates on 2 AA batteries (which are included). The handle of the wand is plastic and comes in a pretty pink princess color. There are swirls and hearts covering the wand handle, making it look more like a true wand. On the front of the handle, there are three little purple buttons. The first button has what looks like to be an aqua blue slipper painted on it. When pressed, the top of the wand lights up greeting all with a personal message from Cinderella. On the next button, there is a small red apple. When pressed, the wand once again lights up the three princesses, and we are then greeted with a message from Cinderella. The bottom button is a small yellow rose. As with the other buttons, when pressed the princess faces light up again. This time, Belle (from Beauty and the Beast) speaks up and gives a greeting.

The greetings from each princess are as follows:

Snow White : How do you do? I’m Snow White! Let’s make a wish, and wave the wand! (When pressed again): Let’s use the magic wand to make dinner for our seven little men.(When pressed for the third and final time): Let’s sprinkle some magic around the house!

Cinderella : Hello! I’m Cinderella! Let’s wave the magic wand to make our dreams come true! (When pressed again) : Let’s turn these dreams into glass slippers! (Final press) : Let’s change these clothes into a beautiful gown.

Belle : Hello! I’m Belle! Are you ready for some magic? (second press) : Let’s go on an adventure! (Final press) : There’s magic in the air!

In the middle of the wand, there is a sparkly silver base that leads up to the top of the wand. The top of the wand is also pink and is shaped like a star. The top of the wand also has swirl designs on the front, but in the middle there are three hearts. Cinderella, Snow White, and Belle appear in individually in their own little heart. Even though it only shows their face, all the princesses are smiling and look extremely adorable. When the buttons on the bottom of the wand are pressed, the three hearts light up simultaneously. The hearts then blink back and forth, taking turns so that each princess can light up individually.

There are three different modes in which the wand can be used. First, there is the play mode (this switch is located on the back of the wand). When the wand is in play mode, not only can the greetings from all the princesses be played, but if the wand is waved, a pretty sound of pixie dust being sprinkled is heard. Next, there is a try me mode. In this mode, the buttons function and the greetings can be heard, but waving the wand doesn’t make any sound. Last, there is the off mode. Of course the off mode means that the wans is turned off and nothing lights up and nothing can be heard. The wand requires no assembly, but if the batteries need to be changed, a tiny Phillips head screwdriver will be required.

Experience and Recommendations

As soon as my daughter saw the wand, her eyes lit up and she couldn’t wait to play with. I don’t think I’ve ever received so many hugs and kisses over one little toy. Once out of the package, the first thing that I noticed is the princesses are much louder. This didn’t seem to bother my daughter at all, but it may begin to bother parents after hearing pixie dust sounds and the same greetings over and over. On the back of the wand, I noticed the speaker box where the sounds came out of. This is a pretty big speaker for a wand and there is no way to adjust the volume. A lot of times I keep the wand in try me mode, because when in play mode the pixie dust seems to sound off if the wand is barely touched.

Even so, my daughter loves this wand. She plays with it constantly and I’ve found it is really good for her imagination. One day, she will be Cinderella and then the next day she will pretend to be Belle. She was even the mean fairy godmother from Shrek 2 a few times (but she made sure to be a sweet godmother). We have had this wand for 6 months now and have yet to change the batteries. The sounds are still unfortunately loud and clear with no distortions. The wand still looks brand new even though it is played with several times a day. There is no cracks, chips, or breaks even though it has been played with by many little hands (and a bit roughly at times). Therefore, I can 100% recommend this talking wand to any little girl that loves wands and Disney princesses. Yes, the sounds are a bit loud, but for the sake of my daughter’s enjoyment, it can be tolerated.

Disney Princess Talking wand is recommended for ages 4 up
