Don’t Go to College Without These Tech Products
I am a 22 year old college student and there are several tech products I cannot live without.¯¿½ These products are things I think college students should have.
First of all, I recommend a cell phone.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Whether you leave your hometown to go to college or you stay with your parents a cell phone really is useful.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ A cell phone comes in handy when you are away from home because most companies have free nights and weekends allowing you to call home without having a high long-distance bill.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ If you live at home, you probably have friends that have left to go to college and you’ll want to talk to them.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ If they have the same provider as you do, you’ll usually be able to talk to them for free, no matter what the time of the day is.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ This of course also depends on your provider.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ And let’s face it, most of us have pretty crappy cars when we are in college and you can find yourself on the side of the road after a break down.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ A cell phone is priceless when this happens.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Some cell phone companies even offer roadside assistance plans that include having your car towed, gas for when you forget to fill up, heck they’ll even send someone out to change a tire for you.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ And if you’re bored, cell phones have games that you can play without dragging out your laptop.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Now I’m not going to recommend a specific provider because not all providers are available in all areas.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ What I do recommend is finding a provider that offers a free phone and offers a plan that has free nights and weekends for a reasonable price.
Second of all, I recommend an MP3 player.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ You can of course buy a cell phone that has an MP3 player built it, but they are really expensive.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ You can find a good quality MP3 player that has a gig worth of space for around $50 on eBay.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ An MP3 player is so useful when you are in college.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ They are great when you are waiting for a class to start.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ In a perfect world, all your classes are within 5 minutes of each other and you have no time to kill in-between.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ But in the real world, this doesn’t usually happen, unless you’re really lucky.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ So while you’re sitting there killing time, you’ll have your MP3 player with you and your next class will start before you know it.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Another great use for an MP3 player is while you’re studying in the library, of course be sure not to have it turned up too loud or start singing out loud.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ I would suggest buying an MP3 player with a voice recorder.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ A player with 1 gig of space can hold around 69 hours of voice recording.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ No more taking notes!Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ You could record a whole weeks worth of lectures and still have room for music.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ I would also look for an MP3 player that easily hooks up to your computer so you can add music to your player without a lot of hassle.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ A player built like a thumb drive is best because you can buy a transmitter and easily hook your player up to your car.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ As for brands, I love the one I have.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ It’s a JXD.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ It works great and was around $50 new.
Third of all, I recommend a thumb drive.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ These things are amazing.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ You can carry all of your homework, notes, etc. around on your keychain.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ If you need something off of the thumb drive just stop by the campus library, hook it up to a computer, find the file you need, and print out what you need.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Plus you can get a 1 gig thumb drive for around $20 on eBay.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Another great thing about them is you can store more MP3’s on it and hook it up to the transmitter you bought for your car.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ SanDisk is a great brand, can be found at Wal-Mart, and has great prices.
Last, but certainly not least, I recommend a laptop.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ While in college, you will store your life on a laptop.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ You can do most of your assignments, research, and note taking on a laptop. You can also send email to friends and family.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ If you’re in a dorm, laptops are great.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ You will be able to watch DVDs, play games, chat with friends, keep pictures of friends and family easily available without taking up lots of space, etc.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Now granted, you could buy a laptop and avoid buying an MP3 player, but a laptop really isn’t as portable as an MP3 player is and doesn’t connect to your car stereo as easily, plus the battery life is no where near the same as an MP3 player.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ I recommend a laptop that has a CD burner/DVD drive, USB ports, integrated wireless, a large hard drive, and at least 512mb’s of ram.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ When it comes to brands I would suggest a Compaq, Dell, or HP. They all offer a lot of bang for their buck.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ A good quality laptop, for college, shouldn’t cost more than $600.
There you go.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ You’ve got all the tech products you could possibly need for college.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ All of these products together shouldn’t be more than $700.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ If you look on eBay you’ll probably find some great deals and might be able to come in under $500.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ If you only buy one product, get the cell phone with a great plan.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ But if at all possible get all four of these products.Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ Each of these will not only make your college life easier, but they will make it more enjoyable.
