Dorm Decoration Ideas and Products

Are you going to be moving into your college dorm in the fall or in the near future? Are you wondering what kinds of things you should buy and bring to decorate your room? Well here are some helpful ideas given to you by a college student who has experience living on campus.

Comfort Items

No dorm room is completely comfortable without the necessary comfort items. The first comfort items includes a mattress topper, and trust me on this one you would want one. Most dorm mattresses can be hard as a rock and you definitely do not want to sleep on a rock. Other items that can coincide with the mattress topper include and nice soft comforter, and big fluffy pillows. The second comfort item is chair cushion or bringing your own chair. Some chairs that the dorms provide are also not as comfortable. So you may want to purchase a chair cushion to put on the chair or bring your own comfy chair.

Wall Decorations

This is always the fun part when moving into a new dorm room. Wall decorations help express what kind of person you are. Wall decorations can range from an assortment of things. Here you can be very creative in what you put up. Some students put up posters of their favorite bands, artists, movies, musicians, and etc. Other students put up art pieces they have created or collages they have made. You can also put of pictures of your friends and family members so if you miss them you can at least still see them when you look at your dorm wall. Other decorations include students putting up mirrors, or even a little basketball hoop that can be fun as well. What ever you put up be creative, and also make sure it is ok to use tape because sometimes it ruins the walls. Some people use other things like different adhesive materials.

Electronics

A room cannot be complete without decorating it with electronics. Electronics can make a dorm room classy and entertaining. However remember that sometimes dorm rooms have limited spacing so try not to go over board on the size of the electronics you bring. Some students bring laptops and hook up bigger speakers to them for surround sound. Other students bring the flat screen televisions that look very nice are doing take up too much space. Students can also purchase small fridges and microwaves to accommodate there rooms.

Lighting

Another important aspect of room d�©cor is the lighting. A student can live in a room with poor lighting. Be sure to purchase a desk lamp or even a room lamp to help give light to your dorm room. Some students also like to be creative and get black lights or colorful bulbs to help there room look cool.

Organization

Decorating a dorm room also includes organization. You can do thing buy purchasing things like getting plastic containers, a shoe rack, hangers, and etc.
