Drury Inn & Suites: Great Hotels Company Wide

After my first stay at a Drury Suite I was so pleased with my stay that now wherever I go I always look to see if a Drury hotel is available. I have stayed at many different Drury hotel locations in both the Inns and Suites. I have traveled to many places around the country, and I have to say that the Drury chain of hotels is at the top of my list.

Drury hotels are currently located in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

J. D. Power and Associates has ranked Drury Inn & Suites #1 in “Highest in Guest Satisfaction Among Mid-Scale Hotels Chains with Limited Service” for 2 years in a row now (2006 and 2007).

I personally enjoy staying in the Drury Suites in Paducah, Ky and St. Louis, MO. When you walk into the lobby of these hotels you are greeted by either a beautiful chandelier or water fountain. The front desk staff is always very friendly and ready to help you whether you have reservations or not. My husband actually had to stay at the Paducah, Ky Drury Suite for about 2 months. The front desk and room service staff got to know him so well that they were sad when he was ready to leave and gave him hugs. I have never known a hotel staff to do this let alone remember who you are upon check-out the next day!

The whole look of the Drury Inn & Suites is elegant and makes you feel like you are really in a high-end, high-price hotel. The lobby, restrooms, pool area, and rooms are always clean and fresh. Depending on where you stay, the breakfast eating area ranges from a small intimate atmosphere to a larger restaurant-looking area.

Speaking about breakfast, all Drurys have a free hot breakfast available every morning. This is one reason I love to stay here. Their hot breakfast is the best around. They serve everything from pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and bacon to cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit. You can find something for everyone and eat as much as you want. You can even take your breakfast back up to your room and serve breakfast in bed!

They also serve other meals on different days during the week. These include things like pizza, chili dogs, and burgers. The meals are always free and all you can eat. It’s a great way to save money on meals if traveling on a budget. You can usually find free popcorn and fountain drinks in the lobby as well. For those people 21 and older, you will get a few free drink tickets if your hotel offers alcoholic drinks in the evenings.

The rooms are nothing less than perfect. Most of the time I stay in the regular rooms, not the suites. These rooms include either 2 double beds or a king sized bed, a TV with cable and movie channel choices, a dresser, desk, comfortable easy chair, table, and 2 end tables by the bed. The bathroom showers have the bowed curtain rods which make the showering area bigger and much more comfortable.

The pool area is always clean, dry, and safe with locking doors, only operable with a room key. The water has always been wonderfully warm and sometimes as warm as good bath water. The hot tubs usually sit 4-6 people and are on a timer which is on the wall away from the tub.

This is a great safety feature so you don’t stay in the tub too dangerously long, and reduces the chance of shocking yourself in the tub while using the controls. Some of the Drury hotels even have pools which are half inside and half outside. You can jump in the pool from the inside of the building and then swim under the building wall to go outside! Or you can just use the door to get outside. Either way, kids (and adults like me) love this feature and can spend hours in the pool.

Another thing I love about the Drury hotels is that they are pet friendly. You are allowed to bring your pet on vacation with you and have them stay right in the room. I have stayed at 2 separate Drury Suites with my 50-pound dog and have never had any problems. The staff has always made a big deal out of getting to pet and play with him. They do make you sign a paper stating that you will pay for any damage your pet may do to the hotel property. You are not supposed to leave your pet in the room alone for more than 30 minutes, but as long as your pet does not disturb other people staying in other rooms you will be fine. There is always a safe place to take your pet outside to “do their business”, you just need to keep them on a leash.

I would suggest to anyone traveling to first look for a Drury Inn & Suites when making reservations. The rates are reasonable, food is great, and they are always family friendly.
