EDUCATION REGISTRY SERVICE LAUNCHES WEBSITE that ALLOWS ENGAGED COUPLES and PARENTS to CREATE GIFT REGISTRIES to FUND the RISING COST of EDUCATION
Education Registry meets the needs of these couples, parents and children by providing a channel through which they can ask loved ones to help them with their financial and educational goals. As there is an increasing need for higher education, the cost of this education also escalates each year. Many newly married couples must postpone buying a house or having children due to ongoing student loan debt, or because they do not have the education necessary to obtain jobs that will financially support these dreams. In addition, many parents worry about how their child will afford college.
“We passionately envision a world where young couples can be free of student loan debt and where parents can start an Educational Savings Account before their child is even born,” said Jamie Hernandez, Co-Founder and CEO of Education Registry. “Education opens many doors and we don’t feel that anyone should be restricted from attaining ‘The American Dream’ of going to college, buying a house and starting a family because they cannot afford it.”
Couples and parents register cost-free with Education Registry, which allows them to create a web page describing the significance of education for them or their children, post a picture and describe upcoming events, such as weddings, baby showers, or birthdays. To announce their registry to loved ones, registrants can send e-mails directly from the website, and can opt to have cards mailed to them to include in event invitations.
Gift-givers can then go to the Education Registry website to view the couple’s or child’s profile, through which they can directly and securely contribute to their registry. When a gift is purchased, they can post a message to be displayed on the receiver’s web page, and opt to have a gift card mailed to them to give directly to the couple or child.
The timing of this website release is ideal, as many couples are living together before marriage and already have the items they need to start their lives together; what they really need is to be debt-free or to earn more money, which they can only accomplish if they have more education. In addition, more parents are creating Educational Savings Accounts than ever before. States Hernandez, “We are confident and proud in knowing that we will be helping to fund education for people for years to come!”
About Education Registry
Education Registry was founded in August 2006 in New York, NY by Marcus and Jamie Hernandez, a recently married couple who, when choosing a wedding gift registry, wanted to ask their loved ones to help pay off their student loan debt, but could not find an appropriate means to do so. Their combined expertise (Marcus works in the financial industry and Jamie works as a high school counselor) allows them to understand the importance of being well-educated and debt-free, which are unfortunately contradictory goals in many cases. They created Education Registry so that couples and parents could ask for what they really want and need -education for themselves and their children.
