Eat Right While Traveling
If you’re traveling by plane it’s no big deal to get a healthy meal. Food portions on airlines are extremely small but some are still loaded with calories. Instead of eating what you’re offered order your something different. Simply call at least 24 hours in advance of your flight and you can order a kosher meal, vegetarian dinner, low-fat selections and even low-cholesterol choices. Another choice is to simply pack your own food from home if it’s a short flight. Even if it’s a lengthy flight you can choose foods that will keep. You can ask for drinks like juice or milk while on the plane.
While traveling by car it’s easy to opt for a quick burger joint than to take the time for a sit-down meal. Resist the urge to stop at burger drive-thru’s and choose a restaurant with a menu. The menu will give you many more healthy choices than the burger dive. And, you’re much less likely to feel sick on your stomach, as many people do while traveling, if you choose the healthy meal over a greasy, fat-filled selection.
No matter how you’re traveling brown-bagging is almost always an option. There are lots of healthy foods that are now packaged for travel convenience. Check your grocery aisles for these meal packs and you’ll be able to maintain your diet no matter where you go. Even if you’re not on a diet, healthy choices are much better for the entire family.
