Eight Great Family Campgrounds Near Bear Lake

Bear Lake, which straddles part of the border between Idaho and Utah, offers great family recreation activities. There is boating, camping, picnicking, and hiking, all nearby. Additionally, the smaller towns near the lake often offer accommodations in the form of cabins, bed and breakfasts, and, of course, hotels. KOA campgrounds are also available. However, if you are looking for some family camping, here are eight great campgrounds, four in Utah and four in Idaho.

Utah

State Marina: This fee area features restrooms, swimming, a dump station, and a boat ramp. Additionally, you can find seasonal boat slips, as well as transient boat slips. This campground is deal for the boaters. Additionally, it is possible to rent boats if you wish.

Rendezvous Beach: There are three areas in this group of campgrounds. Because there are so many units (139 altogether) it can seem rather crowded. However, it does have restrooms, swimming, and a dump station. If you go to the Big Creek area of Rendezvous Beach, though, you can also enjoy utility hookups.

Eastside: Toilets and a wide open area are this fee area’s crowning glory. Even though it has less immediately available, it is not too far to the lakeshore, and it is notably less crowded than the Marina or Rendezvous Beach. And the open area makes it ideal for large family gatherings.

Sunrise: This 27-unit area is quite close to Bear Lake, the closest of those in the Logan Ranger District. It is not terribly crowded, but as always, once summer really hits, it will be full.

Idaho

Eastshore: While this might be too crowded for some, this 60-unit camping area holds many amenities that families might find attractive. A new park and toilets are just some of its attractions. Eastshore also boasts picnic shelters, swimming, a boat ramp, a dump station, and utility hookups.

Cloverleaf: A nice area of about 20 units about a ten minutes’ drive from the lakeshore. This campground area has a lovely stream running through it, and restrooms. Additionally, a group area makes family gatherings possible, and the paved roads make it easy to get from the camping area to the lake.

Paris Springs: This area is nice for its seclusion. It is not far from the lake, but it offers only nine units, ensuring privacy from others. Additionally, there are good group areas for gatherings and toilets available. The road is dirt, but it is not a difficult road to travel.

Big Creek: Another good campground with open space. Water nearby, suitable for playing in, even if it is not the lake. Kids enjoy the fun places to explore at this campground, and it is close enough to Bear Lake for a dip, yet far enough away that you won’t be bothered by pressing crowds. Restrooms on site.

No matter where you decide to camp near Bear Lake, you should note that you should reserve the campgrounds far enough in advance that you can get a place. The area around Bear Lake is popular all summer, and you should plan accordingly.
