Englanders – The Best Breakfast Place in Oakland, MD

In the small town of Oakland, MD there is a hidden gem called Englanders inside a local antique store, they serve breakfast and lunch and its a hotspot for the locals. You will find many friendly faces when visiting Englanders, its the kind of place where you know everyone if you live there. Engladers offers the kind of food you would get if you were eating breakfast or lunch at your mother or grandmother’s house. The prices are just right and you get tons of food! Don’t forget that while you wait for a table or your food you can shop around at the antique store and you might find something you like. Englanders also sells homemade jams and crafts that various different people have made. They let people sell their items for a fee, so there are all sorts of goodies just waiting to be bought.

I have enjoyed coming here to Englanders when I go home to visit my parents about 3 or 4 times a year. My favorite is the sausage gravy on biscuits with a side of homefries. They have pretty much any breakfast that you could imagine, and if its not on the menu they are more than likely willing to do there best to satisfy your request. There is definitly something for everyone. It’s a pretty casual there, kind of like a diner or soda shop, they have tons of pictures on the walls of the employees and regular customers. I definitly miss the things that this little town has to offer but I do enjoy everytime I visit. You don’t see a lot of places that are privately owned anymore, most have been bought out by big corporations or have gone out of business because of too much competition. If you are looking for a great place to vacation or are just traveling in the area, you should try to stop by, I promise you won’t regret it!

After breakfast or lunch, there is a local farmers market that is open during summer and fall seasons that is within walking distance. You can buy fresh baked pies, fresh produce, homemade jams, or check out the crafts that different vendors have for sale. They also sell plants and flowers here. You can get home grown produce that is organically grown for really great prices and you can support the community at the same time. Alot of the vendors are Amish or have had the farms passed down from generation to generation for years.
