Enjoy Atlanta During the Fall Changing Leaf Season

Keep Octoberfest going well into November at Der Bier Garden, right in downtown Atlanta. If you like German or craft beer this is the place for you on the weekends. While your downtown check out the new ferris wheel by the Georgia Aquarium called Sky View Atlanta. If you want to get away from downtown and still enjoy the fall leaves, beer and Octoberfest head to Helen, Georgia in the North Georgia Mountains.

For a great day trip head to Blue Ridge, Georgia in the North Georgia Mountains. Ride the train, eat some fudge and stroll the beautiful small town streets from shop to shop. There are a few shops that carry Christmas items to give you a head start on your holiday shopping.

If you want a quick weekend away head to

Dillard and Clayton, GA

The Dillard House Restaurant:

158 Franklin Street
Dillard GA 30537
800-541-0671 or 706-746-5348

Do you like to go to flea markets and antique stores just to meander and find old treasures. This is your town. The entire main road on the way to Dillard, Georgia is covered with antique shops, flea markets, farmers markets and fortunately for me wineries very close by to go wine tasting for the day.

The Old Clayton Inn:

Sit on the porch breath in the fresh mountain air and be close to everything.

Go wine tasting at Tiger Mountain Vinyards for some Georgia wines. They have a fabulous tasting room a couple of miles away from the Old Clayton Inn.

Dec. 2: Annual Winter Wine Highway Tour. Buy a $25 passport and visit nine wineries. At Tiger Mountain there will be holiday gift ideas, hot mulled wine, artisan cheeses, barrel tastings and live music! See www.georgiawine.org for details.

Dec. 10: Holiday Open House noon to 5 p.m. Featuring discounts on wine gifts and shipping for Christmas. Soups made with Tiger Mountain wine, breads and cheeses. Holiday music.

Summer hours: Sunday through Friday, 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; other times by appointment: 706-782-4777.

Georgia is a beautiful state and we are blessed with miles of coastline, mountains, and most of all the changing fall leaves. Get out there and explore.
