Euro-Pro 6 Slice Convection Toaster Oven: Not Just for Toast Anymore
We usually get a gift certificate for Target from my husband’s great-aunt and uncle for Christmas. We left the kids at home, took it with us once night and went shopping.
My sister had just gotten a new toaster oven, big enough for a pizza so we decided to look at them ourselves.
We looked at several and then found one box, with no model to see on the shelves. It was the last one they had and on clearance. It was the Euro-Pro 6 Slice Convection Toaster Oven, Model: TO289.
It’s so much more than just toaster oven.
It’s big enough to fit a 12″ pizza in and we often make Totinos pizzas in there. We can easily fit 4 pieces of toast on each of the wire racks. It’s great for those times when it’s hot outside and we don’t want to heat up the whole kitchen. Just tonight we made chicken nuggets for the kids and mozzarella sticks for us in there. My husband often does this when he works late and misses dinner.
One thing we had to get used to was how much faster it heats up. When using it as an oven, it only takes a few minutes to heat up. It also bakes things much faster. The first time we used it was to make the Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll Bites for our three daughters one Saturday morning. Unfortunately, we didn’t know they cooked faster and they were slightly burnt. Instead of taking the 15 minutes or so it did in our oven [despite what the instructions say, that’s what it always took in any of our ovens], it only took 8 or so.
Another feature that I love is the crumb tray. It comes completely out and is dishwasher safe. That was always one of the things I hated to do – either with a toaster or our old toaster oven. They only flipped open. Some crumbs would fall out, but invariably there were many more baked or toasted on. With the toaster oven, cheese would drip on the tray or something of that nature and it was virtually impossible to get clean. Now, we simply pull the tray out and stick it in the dishwasher and it’s clean as a whistle.
Would I buy this product again? Most definitely. While we got a clearance item, this product usually runs about $40. There’s little I would change about it. The word ‘power’ is misspelled on our toaster [maybe that’s why it was on clearance?] but, as you would expect, it has no bearing on how well it works.
