Exciting NBA Playoffs

This seasons NBA playoffs are nearing an end and these have been some of the best basketball games i have witnessed in a while. With 5 of the 8 first round playoff series going to at least 6 games and only one series ending in a sweep, this years playoffs have been the most exciting in recent memory. So here we are a few days away from the start of the NBA finals and the only sweep so far in this years playoffs was accomplished by the no.4 seed Dallas Mavericks over the no.5 seed Memphis Grizzles. In the second round of the playoffs 3 of the 4 series went 7 games, including a comeback from down 3-1 by the Phoenix Suns. Both Confrence Finals went 6 games, and most are predicting the Finals will go at least 6.

Everyone saw what LeBron James can do, as he took his team into the second round and nearly knocked the reigning champs out of the playoffs. Shaq and Dwayne Wade led the Miami Heat to their first finals appearance, as did Dirk Nowitzki with the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas finally got over the hump and beat their rival San Antonio Spurs in seven games. The Suns completed two seven game series against both teams hailing from L.A., the Clippers and Lakers, only to fall short to the Mavs. So there was plenty going on this year to keep fans entertained. We even saw some suspensions ranging from Raja Bell clotheslining Kobe Bryant, to Jason Terry punching Michael Finley, and even D.J. Mbenga getting suspended for 6 games for going into the stands.

The Phoenix Suns were one of the most exciting teams to watch this playoff season. With their run ‘n’ gun style of play and the ability to put up huge point totals, every game this team played was exciting. Facing a 3-1 series deficeit the Suns were able to comeback against the L.A. Lakers and advance to play the Clippers nixing a possible L.A. vs. L.A. matchup that would have had the whole series played in the Staples Center. The Suns and Clippers traded wins throughout the series giving the Suns a 4-3 series win. The Suns then played the Dallas Macericks, even with being the no.2 seed and the Mavs being the no. 4 seed the Mavs got home court advantage by having a better regular season record. This series was tied at 2 going into game 5 and phoenix looked poised to take a 3-2 series lead. Dirk Nowitzki had other things in mind as he took over in the fourth by outscoring the Suns by himself. The Mavs made another comeback in game 6 to win the series and advance to their first NBA Finals.
