Fall Out Boy: One of Several Bands on From First to Last Tour

Last Thursday, my Mom’s fiancÃ?©e’s daughter Taylor saw Fall Out Boy’s Columbia, Maryland show at Meriwether Post Pavilion. Best known for the hit single, “Sugar, We’re Going Down,” the band is one of several on the current, “From First To Last” tour. The other bands include: The All-American Rejects, Hawthorne Heights and From First To Last.

A huge Fall Out Boy Fan, Taylor received their, “Under The Cork Tree” CD for her birthday recently. The concert was her first and the tickets were a birthday present from her Dad. However, Fall Out Boy is not your Dad’s rock band. Trying to portray a clean-cut image, the band looked like a younger, softer, version of Whitesnake. Everyone attending the show seemed to really enjoy it. After all, when you are a teenage girl, the most important things in life are friends, food and fun!

As she sat back enjoying the show, a terrible thing happened! Taylor started feeling queasy. Disappointed, she headed gingerly toward the restroom and got sick. As often happens in such situations, thankfully Taylor felt better afterward. What made her sick? Was it the spoiled hot dog and nachos she ate for dinner, or the piercing volume of her introduction to concert fun? Her Dad was disappointed and concerned for her, but we may never know what caused her mysterious illness that night. The most important thing is that Taylor handled the whole situation with poise and maturity and learned a valuable lesson.

No matter what, life is just too short to let unexpected circumstances rain on your parade. I have to give her credit. Were I her age, I don’t know if I would have been mature enough to handle such a situation as well as she did. Her maturity in dealing with these types of crises will certainly be a wonderful asset and strength to her as she encounters the many challenges and winding detours along the journey of life.

Despite becoming ill, Taylor and her friends had a great time at the concert. Fall Out Boy was her favorite. Although it was the band’s first tour, they drew a very excited teenage crowd. Even though parent chaperones bought earplugs, it wasn’t a bad day’s work for a first tour. I know Taylor looks excitedly forward to seeing future Fall Out Boy concerts for many years to come!
