Fish Eye Marine Park in Piti, Guam
Located 1,550 south of Japan is the western most territory of the United States called Guam. Guam is a popular tourist destination in the Western Pacific and is reminiscent of one’s idea of a tropical island paradise. With its year-round warm climate and an abundance of white sand beaches, Guam is an ideal place for water sports enthusiasts. Swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving are but some of the many exciting activities you can enjoy on this island.
One of the first sights we visited when we arrived on Guam is the Fish Eye Marine Park. Located in the village of Piti is Micronesia’s first underwater observatory which is a favorite destination for tourists that come to the island. Fish Eye Marine Park is situated on Piti Bay specifically called “Piti Bomb Hole” which has been designated as a marine preserve in 1997.
GETTING THERE
There are three means of transportation on Guam. You may either take the tour buses which travel to and from major hotels and malls. You may also rent your own vehicle if you want to do the driving, just make sure you have a map on hand. Or you can opt to take a taxi which may cost you more. Either way you will surely not miss seeing the impressive Fish Eye Marine Park along the way.
Before you reach the observatory, you have to cross a 1,000 ft. boardwalk called Two Lover’s Bridge. On the upper deck of the observatory you can stop and enjoy the view of the spectacular ocean before proceeding to the underwater observatory. The said observatory is 71 ft. in height and weighs 230 tons, strong enough to withstand the onslaught of a super typhoon. The bottom deck has 24 viewing windows for you to behold the wonders of an underwater world. While we were there we saw many different fishes varying in size and color as well as corals that remain untouched. We also saw a group of divers who happily waved at us.

OPTIONAL TOURS
There are also optional day and night tours. For the day tours, tourists may choose among The Fish Eye Day Tour, Bomb Hole Snorkeling Tour, Dolphin Watching Tour and Fish Eye Special Tour. Buses going to Fish Eye Marine Park will pick you up at your hotel and you may either go to the underwater observatory, go snorkeling, ride a cruiser and watch for dolphins and/or try the Seawalker. The Seawalker tour is really amazing, you will wear a special helmet which will enable you to walk on the bottom of the ocean.
For the night tour, you may either choose the Fish Eye Tropical Dinner Show where, aside from going to the observatory, you will also enjoy a mix of different cuisine such as Japanese, French and Chamorro. . While you enjoy your dinner at the Fish Eye Theater restaurant, there will be a cultural presentation where you will experience Guam’s rich tradition. Or you can opt for The Sunset Cruise And Fish Eye Tropical Dinner Show where on top of dinner and the cultural show, you will also be taken on an enchanting cruise.
OTHER ATTRACTIONS
Other facilities and attractions of Fish Eye Marine Park are the Dive Shop equipped with a training pool plus a shower and changing room for those who want to learn how to scuba dive. There is also the Piti Bayside Chapel which is surrounded by lush greenery and the Baby Fish Tanks and Logo Shop where you can purchase various souvenirs and memorabilia items.
