Five Easy Steps to Making a Thanksgiving Wreath

While Christmas wreaths may be the mainstay in door decorations, there’s potential for wreaths to start their debut earlier in the year. This here is how to make a good looking Thanksgiving wreath with cheap ingredients, a little time, an awful lot of fun.

Step 1: Gather Materials

Base materials you’re going to want are some a base wreath, some wood, and a glue gun. Decoration wise, you’ll probably want things like ribbon, Indian corn, either cloth or plastic pumpkins, some pine cones, flowers, fake or real, and a stuffed animal like a bear or turkey for a centerpiece. You’ll want a large working surface where you can lay out all of your materials.

Step 2: Create the base

To gain an idea where you’ll place everything, glue your small piece of wood, around two by three inches, onto the wreath. Slit the stuffed animal open in the back slightly and place it over the glued piece of wood. Make sure to use a sharp knife or scissors so as not to fray the stuffed animal too much. After sticking the animal on the wood, you’ll have secured your center piece.

Step 3: Decorate

Now that you’ve got a base, let your artistic abilities take hold. Glue your pumpkins around the wreath, making sure they aren’t too close together. Next you’ll want to glue your Indian corn on where you see fit, then move onto the pinecones. Place these intermittently around the wreath. After these are secured, add some color in with small bunches of flowers- sunflowers fit the Thanksgiving color scheme. More flowers means more color!

Step 4: Finishing touches

Tie your ribbon into a plenty big bow, as seen here. Leave your excess ends hanging off, and cut V shapes into the ends with sharp scissors. You’ll want to put a small but sufficiently sized spot of glue on the back of your bow so it can be stuck to the top of the wreath. Probably about the size of a dime.

Step 5: Stick it to your door

There’s nothing as welcoming as a festive wreath stuck to the front door, and nothing sets the tone for what will surely be a gut filling, family fun full Thanksgiving Day. Not only that, but being comprised entirely of non-degradable objects, this easy to make, easy to look at Thanksgiving wreath will keep on giving year after year.
