Five Television Actresses to Watch For this Fall

With the new 2006 fall TV season set to start in the next few weeks, who will be some of the breakout actresses coming to a small screen near you. Which actresses will wow the critics and the audience with their performances. This is my prediction of the five actresses to look out for this upcoming season.

In the new ABC show Ugly Betty, America Ferrera stars as a young woman having a difficult time fitting into the world of fashion. The show is based on a popular telenovela. Ferrera has been in several movies including Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Real Women Have Curves. In both of these movies, Ferrera gave some standout performances. If Ferrera gives the same type of strong performance in Ugly Betty, this could be the show that will make her a star.

This fall you can catch Danielle Panabaker in the CBS legal drama Shark. She will play James Woods’ daughter in the drama series. Panabaker has had roles in the Lifetime movie Mom at Sixteen and the HBO miniseries Empire Falls, where she held her own with such veterans actors as Ed Harris, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Helen Hunt. Panabaker has displayed that she has the acting chops to go far in this business.

Still just a teenager, Hayden Panettiere has had many roles in both television and movies. She spent several years on the soap opera The Guiding Light and had guest appearances on Malcolm in the Middle. She has appeared in movies such as, Ice Princess, Racing Stripes, Remember the Titans, and Bring It On: All or Nothing. This fall you can catch Panettiere in the new NBC drama Heroes. She plays a cheerleader who is able to defy death at every turn in this new drama series. With her many years in the business, Panettiere has proven that she is a star on the rise.

British actress Carmen Ejogo has had roles in the TV movies Lackawanna Blues, Boycott, and Sally Hemings: An American Scandal. This fall she will be seen in the NBC drama Kidnapped. In the drama series, she tries to help a wealthy New York family find their kidnapped teenage son. This could be the role that will help Ejogo gain exposure to a wider audience.

Amanda Peet has had roles in the movies Syriana, The Whole Ten Yards, and Something’s Gotta Give. This fall you can catch her in the new NBC drama, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. In the drama she will play a new network president, trying to make her mark. This show has been receiving a lot of buzz, and could be just the vehicle that will put Amanda Peet on the map.

These five young actresses should definitely be able to hold their own this fall. With the strong performances that these actresses have given in the past, their futures in Hollywood looks to be bright.
