Use coupons! The Sunday paper is usually full of them. You can find them and print them online. Your favorite grocery store most likely has a flyer which contains coupons. Many store will double the value of each coupon that is under a dollar. That means if you have a coupon for shampoo that says 50 cents off, then you could actually save a dollar. Coupons are a simple and easy way to save at the grocery store. Keep your receipts and watch the savings add up trip after trip!

Two…
Buy in bulk. This is a good one for families. Buying in bulk means saving money. Items and supplies also last longer. When things are bought in bulk it is much cheaper than buying the products separately. There are stores in just about every area that offer bulk food and home supply items. Find the one near you and start saving!

Three…
Look for the deals. If you pay close attention at the grocery store you will find items that have been marked down for fast sale. You can also find things that are buy one get one free. When you scope out the deals you end up saving money. When you find buy one get one free items you end up getting twice the product for half the cost! That is always a good thing!

Four…
Go generic. Have you ever noticed that all of the name brand products are much more costly than the generic named products? The thing is that the generic usually work or taste just as good! You could end up saving a dollar or more per item by choosing the generic brand over the name brand. These savings can really add up too. Your dollars will get you a lot more when the items you buy each cost a little less.

Five…
Apply for food stamps. Many families are eligible for food stamps and don’t even realize it. The minimum monthly allowed income amount is very high, and many do fall below it. If you struggle to buy groceries you may want to consider applying for food stamps at your local department of social services. You could end up receiving 300.00 dollars a month or more for food. Who can complain about that?
